Head light projection pattern?

Anyone else notice the blip?
Don’t remember seeing it in my sr5, but can’t unsee it now….
Left side…
For shits & giggles popped the hood to see if it would change, doesn’t…
Maybe totally normal, just look to confirm, or not…

if you look at the projected light pattern on the wall, from the left side, going right, there’s a huge ramp up, and then the right side pattern is higher than the left…

My guess is hopefully just a dealership visit & free headlight adjustment…

I'm certain it is a design point because I don't get people flashing at me like has been with some other not smart type and earlier LED headlight vehicles. IIHS won't award the plus status now if a vehicle doesn't have smart lights.

P 234 of the manual - headlight leveling - is worth looking at. Beyond courtesy and weight, aiming low in a snow storm is good.

Apparently a thing in modern projection, led, set-up...
Back in the day, when you did a headlight adjustment, they were even.....

Very far from new....
Been doing real car work for 32 years, not cup holders, light bulbs, & weather strips.......
Im sure ive forgotten more about cars than you 2 will ever know.....
Just looked very odd to me...

 

This is common on projector style headlights. As others have said it's to not blind oncoming drivers.

oh no.... this is one of them times that experience doesn't mean a lot. I've been staring at this shit for 25 and it was as clear as day that its to not blind oncoming traffic with the first pic with how the cut off is. im also a tech thats been dealing with everyone (engineers) that know better but the best they can do is redesign, not apply knowledge. to each their own

 

Youre right, digging deeper, they've been adjusting lights where driver side is down & in forever....
I didnt do lights.....
We all specialize, not bumper to bumper...
That being said, pretty basic shit, but ive had bigger things to take care of...

 

it’s easy to get lost in the sea of new stuff. I’ve never seen a manufacturer do this but recognized what the idea was when seeing the beam patter. I like they tried I hope it works. LEDs are whooping my ass when coming towards me on the road though with astigmatism

 

I usually get flashed once or twice a night drive by cars....they get pissy when I turn the brights on back at them.

Ive driven many cars at night & have never see such definitive drop in the pattern.
have the same issue,
astigmatism & made issue worse with lasik, when it comes to on-coming headlights.
To the point I cant see the lane im suppose to be driving in...
I tinted my entire front windshield 35% ceramic, helps....
a lighter / safer, but still game changer percentage 50% ceramic

 

it’s easy to put people down. It’s the low hanging fruit. I’d like to see people challenge themselves to do something better but that’s the same mindset as the perpetual 12 year old…

 

How much can you adjust with the auxillary switch in the interior?

 

Adjust your headlights. Clearly they're pointed too high, if you're constantly being flashed. Flashing your highbeams back at people isn't helping.

 

I put CIBIEs in a couple of older cars with the round headlights, way back when. That is the beam pattern their nice glass lenses were cut to project on low beam. If I got flashed, when I hit the highs they'd light up the insides of the offended vehicle.

I'd go back to round lights just to have them again.

 

Not true on the, "clearly your headlights are pointing to high"
The new modern LED headlight is super bright & allot of folks in incoming traffic are having alot of light sensitivity issue from them....
Theres been plenty of documentation / comments on this forum where people have commented that theyre getting flashed while in low beam mode by on-coming cars....
stock vehicles, not lifted, etc...
Shouldn't have to make adjustments from the factory 0 setting on the adjustment dial unless your stance has changed....
Theres lots of modern vehicles produced today that dont have the quick dial adjustment, but theres really no reason to use it just because youre getting flashed.....

I got flashed MANY times in my 24 stock sr5 taco, & still today in the sport....
