    According to IIHS statistics, you're roughly twice as likely to die driving a 2WD Taco, 42 deaths per million vs 26 deaths per million for the 4WD model. Make sure you don't replace one deathtrap with another one :stirthepot:

    If the Truck is in good shape, and you know it's history, then whats the problem. The ball joints on the 1st gens are wear items. Ball Joints on any vehicle at some point will have to be replaced. I had replace the ones on my 1969 El Camino in 1987. Just keep up the maintenance and keep on driving it. Just don't buy cheap ball joints, cough up the dough and buy Toyota parts, you'll be glad you did.

    My understanding is that the dust seals that came on early manual hubs were larger and touch the tall registering/locating ring on the TC LBJ. Easy to overcome, but if it doesn’t fit perfectly, people will bltch and moan.
