    On 3g Tacomas 5.29s are a great option. I have regeared many on 33s to 5.29 and have had great results helping with the gear hunting. The transmissions in the 3g have the same gear 1-5 ratios as the 2nd gen, and then they added an additional overdrive on top for 6th gear. The 5.29s make it so you can actually utilize the 6th gear

    That's one option, but so freaking expensive and asides from the transmission hunting I love my third gen that's most importantly, paid off.

    Glad to hear this, I feel like I just give it a shot. It's so much more economical to regear rather than buy a new truck. Thanks y'all.

    Manual swap it. I love my 6 speed. Only time it changes gear is when I want it to. Power upgrade will make it perform better. But it won't stop the hunt

    Unfortunately, swapping a manual for an automatic on a modern vehicle isn't just a bolt up conversion, anymore. Changing or swapping ECUs and other electronics makes it a near nightmare. It can be done, but it'll be a massive PITA.

    Would love to, but given the amount of work I'm not sure it's worth it for me. Would rather trade her in for an MT or sell it and find a used one to buy. An MT definitely feels like the best of all worlds though.

    Believe or not this dude lived in Alaska for some time. Couldn’t go outside alone cause of the hawks mostly. He really loved the snow~

    I've been hearing mixed reviews from people the past several months from Mtn Yotas and results of their work.

    I'd personally feel bad calling them up and bugging them, because I don't really plan on using them and would DIY the install. I'm in Westcliffe, so I pretty much need to DIY my entire life now lol

    @Kolter45,

    He looks similar to my old guy. Unfortunately he passed away from heart failure a few years ago. We had to really watch him when he was out cause of the hawks and owls.
