I could use some help guys. 01 Taco 3.4. Engine chokes when throttle is first pressed, then picks back up. Then I have no power increase through the first 2/3s of the pedal. I can "tap" pedal and no change until the last 1/3, then wham! Full throttle.
    I've tried TPS, no change.

It was suggested an O2 sensor, might be the issue?

It almost feels like a limp mode?

    Please help!
    Thanks guys.

Sounds like either a sticking throttle body or a stretched-out throttle cable, possibly both. Give the TB a good cleaning and check the throttle cable for slack.

Cleaned throttle body well. Took of intake and it's not sticking. It happened overnight, not gradually.

Next time you start a thread you could include troubleshooing you have already done...

Anyways, if it happened that suddenly I would move on to thinking it's a fuel delivery problem.

Yes it is. And I swapped fuel filter last night. No change. It feels like a sensor, its either on or off.. there's no gradual anything. Power or no power.

Sounds like an improperly adjusted throttle cable- especially since you would have had to take it off to clean the throttle body.

Have someone push the pedal while you watch it in the engine bay.

Its none of these answers. Its the iac control on the throttle body. On the other side of the cable on the tb theres a “sensor” that either came unplugged or came loose. It needss adjusted if loose which will set your idle throttle rpm and the motor inside of the tb is whats causing your loss of throttle until the last third of the pedal.. there are two little japonese phillips screws that are a pain to get out without stripping.. use force and carefullness in loosening them or youll drill them out.. it needs set in there at an angle then twisted up until the idle sounds ok.. could also be wiring to that sensor but its 100% that sensor causing this issue..

motor in throttle body is only on 03/04.....consider yourself lucky you dont have those.

which means only serviceable part is throttle position sensor......which is much better deal than having to buy another $800 TB

even if its not it.....its not a bad ideal to have a spare

fuel pump going bad might do this

Look at your TPS and tell us if it is a 3 or 4 wire sensor please and is the replacement a Toyota part or aftermarket.
