I need to work on my property more this year. Im thinking they go to couple old oaks. No real trails to speak of in snow. Just random scattered tracks.

 

buddy and I took a walk thru the property that I hunt yesterday, gone be stand moving for sure, we found/followed the property line, and found an area that needs a stand........

 

Same here.
I opened up a couple old paths on the property and the critters use them daily.
Planning on continuing opening up the old trail to the road below getting rid of some underbrush as I go.
It'll make it easier to get firewood from that area as well.

I have old stone walls on my borders. I made an opening in one wall near my ladder stand bordering the neighbors woods.
Made a huge difference in the deer traffic.
Why jump a wall when they can walk through it.

The watershed I hunted is loaded with walls...and old bar ways.
Smart money says to stake out those openings in the walls.

 

I dont have any underbrush just tons of saplings from 2" up to 8" diameter. And stupid pile of wood that i cant get to burn cuz of weather

 

Season ends tomorrow here, had a good year, 1 buck and 2 doe’s. Cleaned the hunting rig up yesterday and put my hunting gear away. We ground up 200 pounds of deer meat today, 90 pounds of breakfast sausage and the rest in burger. Getting anxious to start looking for sheds.

Recent acquisition 450 BM I think I’m going to try something new next season. Been hunting with a 308 either Browning bolt gun or AR10. Most of my shots are 100 or less this thing ought to hit ‘em like a sledge hammer. AR platform so should be lighter than the AR10 to carry also.


I’ve gotta make myself hunt more
