What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I’ve got the lights set to the longest settings, both interior and exterior. Always been like that.

 

Got my Tacoma new shoes yesterday. Bridgestone Dueler AT 002 265/70R16 112T MS with snowflake. Was happy with my Goodyear Territory Stock tires, as I drove road only. They lasted 59880km and 2years 3 months. Unfortunately, they are not available in Europe. Plus, they require the snowflake symbol here now for MS tires. Will see how the fuel economy and the handling in rain and snow are. According to the label they are 72dB and C out of A-E in rain and fuel economy.
Crazy! I had to go to a truck tire shop as the wheels of my Tacoma did not fit the car balancing machine.

 

Bought an OEM trail edition grille + Amazon TSS garnish yesterday. Should
Be here Wednesday, can’t wait to install it. Should match the bronze wheels and tan softopper nicely!

wonder if there’s a market for the stock grille…

I used this place for brakes rotors, wipers and filters, they shipped the delicates in a separate box, fast service, great price. Only problem is that the email contact on their web site is a dead end, will kick back at you. However the parts man at this dealer called me, and invited me to just keep his phone number. Not sure if they automatically call everyone, but if you want a call, order two of the left side wiper refills, he will call to ask if you really want two of the same, or thought you were getting a pair. Though I am a huge fan of only replacing the part that is bad, instead of a whole assembly!!!!

 

On an '09, I had this happen from sitting and rust, warm weather, amd I never use the parking brake. I think the gap is soo small that maybe e-brake or not matters little.

 

Who has ever broken a parking pawl on a transmission?? I admit (despite my recent post to the contrary) that on an unusually steep incline, or with a heavy load, I use the parking brake; but I have never heard of anyone busting the pawl; does that even ever happen?

Yes when installing new shoes or drums and or adjusting the brake shoes, you adjust them out to have a slight drag while turning the drum by hand... you just want them closed mouth kissing, not making out... lol

Yes I have seen them break, but very rare, more to do with people NOT coming to a complete stop before throwing up into park and or people on a steep hill putting in park, then side stepping the brake pedal (exaggerated) and let the vehicle roll until the pawl engages instead of applying the e-brake before letting off the brakes... They are pretty robust... But they do have their limits, that is why med and heavy trucks/buses/motor homes (or used to anyway) use a park brake on the output housing of the transmission, no internal parking pawl... Some of the older motor homes would get stuck on a hill and not come out of park due to the pressure from the weight of the vehicle when the park brake was not used, they would have to be pulled up hill just enough to release that pressure...

Exactly, yes he is the internet order shipper, haha, when he is out of office, all the guys in parts refer to him for any questions on his return to office. He did the same with me on the Filter Housing, he called me to confirm part number and fitment to the VIN I entered into the online order form. I thought that was very cool.

NOT ME. But...

I had a 90 or 91 Isuzu A/T pick up, 2 seater, with an access behind the seats. Driving with, now an ex-wife, we are on a 25 mph surface street oh I say about 4 houses out of our driveway. She decides to get comfortable and does some sort of stretching excercise in the passenger seat, well part of this exercise included hard shifting directly from D to P. The rear wheels locked up solid and we skidded and bounced our way to a dead stop within I say about 15 feet max. After a short conversation, I restarted the truck and we proceeded to our destination in the typical D. I never had another issue with that transmission.

 

Anyone ever done a transmission flush through the cooler hoses? I did a few weeks ago. I have the ac60f transmission.

 

I could never get around leaving a dirty filter in the transmission after all that work to "flush" the fluid.

Dropping a pan is not that hard. My Isuzu Trooper had TWO pans and two filters (4L30e trans)

 

Yeah, I'll do that next time.
