i have had a 1982 toyota truckIt wasn't called a Tacoma yet. I had a1997 Tacoma SR5 a 2003 Tacoma SR5 a 2006 Tacoma sport a 2021 Tacoma Pro and the latest a 2024 Tacoma Pro. I love the 2024 Pro the best so far. Yes it has lest room for back seat passengers. I always say if you like the truck and can afford it , go for it. My 1982 truck was a bad ass truck too with 36” x 15.50 x15 tires mounted on 12x15 rims. Check out my tacoma Photos in my albums.

Ha! Funny! I honestly don't get all of the ire from the non-'24 owners. We also own a 2021 Lexus NX (a rebodied Rav4) and over at ClubLexus there are literally Rav4 owners in the chat ragging on NX owners over the same kind of nonsense BS we get here. "Why would you pay more for a fancy badge?" "Your car doesn't have...this or that!" Frankly we bought the NX new during the pandemic, last year of that generation, and got it for less than a similarly equipped new Rav4!

I don't understand internet trolling in general. Sad that people can't find a way to enjoy real life a little more.

Toyota could replace the ARB rear bumper on the Pro replace it with the plastic bumper. Design a front ARB for the Trailhunter using roughly the same amount of materials as the rear. Now the TH gets a front ARB bumper with no additional price increase. It's not like anyone buying a Pro is going to miss the rear ARB.

Because the Pro buyers would be paying for it? Why not make the sport rack/bed bar optional and a front ARB bumper standard? That way the base price would remain the same (Pro remains at the top - for whatever marketing reason) and TH can be optioned out to whatever ridiculous price overlanders want. Not like overlanders are going to miss their money.

Did you get one yet OP?

I have a TRD Pro. Yes, it was expensive. Yes, its badass.

I didn't think it would be as much of an attention getter, but it is. Only people on forums and YouTube comments hate the truck. Everyone in real life thinks they are great. Especially those of us who actually have one.

That would work. I don't expect to see a ARB front bumper option from Toyota, and when it comes time for the bean counters that ARB will probably be the 1st thing cut from the Pro.

I thought I'd drop a couple nickels worth of opinions after riding in the new PRO Tacoma at Barrett Jackson, Scottsdale, AZ this afternoon.

I commented on the substantially improved ride quality in comparison to the 3rd gen pro, which frequently bottomed out on bump stops on the same off-road course and shifted like absolute cr*p as all 3rd gens do.

I was told the truck is roughly 500lbs heavier than the outgoing 3rd gen and the shocks were basically the same as the outgoing 3rd gen pro with the exception of the 3 setting clicker adjustments. I was surprised to say the least.

My perspective was from riding in the front passenger seat. The pogo seats help and make a noticeable difference at least on the off road race track. If the shocks are basically the same someone has spent significant time getting the valving right. These shocks are valved very nice for off road.

Going back to the seats, the side bolsters were supportive without digging into the rib cage and back and bottom of the seats were plush. Way nicer than my 3rd gen and way more comfortable than the cloth and leather seats in the 4th gen trd off road Tacoma's.

The turbo helps substantially with getting the truck moving off the bottom end and the transmission is a major improvement. No more bogged down not sure what gear to be in.

It doesn't ride or drive anything like the 4th gen trd off road trim imo. That said, it's still way underpowered from the factory and grossly overpriced for what it is imo.

I was hoping Toyota would have a 4Runner ready for the test track. In fact, that's the only reason I signed the waiver for the ride. They didn't even have one on display. Only Pro Tundra's and Pro Tacoma's. The Pro Tundra's were squeaking pretty bad every time they returned from a lap. I couldn't tell if it was from the front or rear suspension, but it didn't sound good.

I'm still going to recommend passing on this new PRO Tacoma.

You wanna know what caught my interest?

Ford has their booth setup right next to Toyota's. They've got a very nice grey Raptor on display. The interior room is spacious, the seats are comfortable and the truck is much more practical given the larger size. The base Ford Raptor's with 35's not 37's is the sweet spot for those trucks.

Also, I was happy to see Dodge bring the discontinued Hellcats back for the road track demo. They had a row of electric something or another, but you know the crowds would be deflated if that's all they brought.

Most people wouldn't compare/cross-shop a Tacoma Pro to a full size Raptor. Oddly, I have no interest in the Ranger Raptor over the Tacoma Pro but if I were choosing between the Tundra Pro and Raptor, I'd probably go Raptor. Even though the Ranger Raptor is $8K less (on paper) than the Tacoma and the Raptor is $7K more than the Tundra.

The Pro Tacoma is a niche vehicle much like the Raptor. The pro Tundra is a...well it's a disaster.

Can afford a few of them, as I'm sure many here can and choose not to purchase, but I also don't just go out and buy the shiny new thing just cause. Usually me and you agree, but this argument is silly whenever its brought up, sure there maybe a small amount of people upside down in their truck or can't afford a higher payment and will hate just to make themselves feel better but its not the default or what I have seen and suspect are many's dislikes/reasons not to buy for the truck/gen.

This. I wanted one, still find myself looking at them, can afford easily with no payment, but every time I sit in one or get close to pulling the trigger the value is just not there for me added with, though maybe a few instances, questionable reliability / issues I've seen in other forums besides here and here.

There’s a difference between saying “this ain’t the truck or value proposition for me” and denigrating others for making decisions that are different than yours. I’m not sure if you’ve done the latter or not, but among those who have, there’s been a large number of sour grapes 3g owners. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fox_and_the_Grapes)

If I was intrested in a Tundra Pro in 2025, I'd get the Rally pack and some aftermarket coil overs. I'd miss out on the hybrid, but I could buy a hybrid and do the samething. Obviously they are not the same truck option for option, and resale value would reflect that and the removal of factory components wouldn't help there.

You can't replicate a Raptor as it has many more unique components, the rear suspension being one of them.

I'd like an STX trim Raptor, no sunroof, no leather, no pro trailer assist basically cut all the fluff from the Raptor.

Oh I agree. And a lot of dismissive 4th gen owners too. Nothing's perfect, everyone has reasons for their choices and what they see as value added, etc. And let's not kid ourselves Tacomas have gotten cheaper (as in materials) and less reliable and more expensive with each generation, just is what it is, but that goes for most consumer products including housing, appliances, etc.

As they’ve gotten “cheaper” in perception, they’ve gotten objectively better at literally everything, while maintaining price at a given feature set pretty much in line with inflation.

Gonna disagree its a bit more than perception, literally see people talking about warped bed rails, thin paint, broken radio knobs, etc.

And we had thin paint, rusting frames, broken springs, splitting beds and all kinds of other shit way back on first gens.

So your argument that it is better is not really there now is it? Better from added features and changes sure I guess, but its not like it's hand built now from higher quality components and many of us would argue the opposite even if perception. I guess time will tell, its still early into usage on these too.

I haven't honestly seen a post denigrating anyone for purchasing a 4th gen Tacoma. Not a post that was directed at a member for purchasing the truck they have.

If someone says you have to be stupid for paying X amount for said truck, and it's not directed to someone. That's a general statement, and most likely an expression of an opinion.

I'm far from a victim, but I have had several occasion where denigrating comments have been directed at me, that had nothing to do with any truck purchase. I'm pretty certain I've never hit the report button a single time.

IOW, get the fuck over it. Who ever it is.

That beeing said, if I saw nothing but negativity about the 4G, and I owned or drove a 4G I wouldn't want to read that either. I wouldn't read it, because I wouldn't bother logging in to begin with.
