Oh no way, is that what broke?

I've only had the plastic clip break on the Tacoma and the exterior door handle on the 4Runner.

I hear doing that with the door closed is a huge pain.

Last time it happened the end of the little tiny spring thats tucked back in the panel broke. The little plastic clip would be preferable for sure.

This guy has a vid on the spring. When I did the drivers side like his I couldnt get the panel off because of the steering wheel etc, makes it easier without the panel on to figure out whats up. Hopefully its the spring, I bought a few last time.

    Fun part's about 4min mark

Sofia got one of these for Xmas, holy shit I was not prepared for how high that thing was going to launch up into the air lol. Impressive

    IMG_4592.jpg

although when I was a kid, we used to get those real small scale rocket kits that would launch into commercial air space and land in a field 5 miles away and not start a wildfire if you were lucky

After playing around with the software, the G-code is the easy part since the printer came with a slicer that does all that for you. I'm finding that learing fusion is by far the steepest learning curve.

You use fusion, right? Got any good resources to learn with?

lol, 5 minutes spent launching then hours spent searching and climbing on random roofs to find it

yeah lol the real ones we did as a kid would parachute back down but often they’d go so far you just completely lose track of them

this water rocket you can adjust the angle it fires at and launch it like a mortar at one of your neighbors lol. One of the fins got bent on hers and now it’s more like an rpg than a rocket

Yeah I use Fusion, but I can't recommend any good resources as I learned it all on my own.

With that said, I'd be happy to give you a one on one via Zoom.

So I busted most of the clips at some point in the passenger door. Last night the gf closed the door soft and went to pull it closed the last bit.... Only to break a few more clips. Boy the look on her face when she thought she just ripped the entire door card off.... I let her sweat for a few before telling her I broke most of them already

I always had better luck climbing high and dropping them. Like you said, always got tangled when you'd try and launch em. When they did work they were awesome.

    So were backyard rockets.

Easy on the plastic door handles during severe cold spells.

Yesterday, the Tundra passenger door handle snapped off. I have a new (commonly used) set on order. I'll see how it goes.

I converted the LC to use metal handles like the LX. I don't have any spare LX handles to try making the conversion.
    The shape does look similar.

When I was a kid my parents and I built a rocket like that with a 2-liter soda bottle and a bike pump.

I think we used a cork with an inflation needle (like you'd use for a basketball) through it. The cork blows once enough pressure builds up in the bottle. The key to a good flight is putting the right amount of water into the bottle, it acts as a propellant as the compressed air forces it out.

I found a couple of vents clogged up with leaves and dirt. I think it's good to clean out the door cavities and treat them with fluid film even when you don't live in an area that is salted.

@time623 in like 2 hours, do you wanna jump on Zoom?

Gonna go over with Gregg some basic 3D drawing and stuff, and I'm positive you're significantly more versed in it with Solidworks, but you'll be able to see it in Fusion

Yeah the highest one we got was just filled maybe 1/6 of the way up with water, the rest with air. Fortunately this kit has a release valve for excess air if you get carried away and over pump it, I can’t imagine making a homemade one like that and then over pumping it with a bike pump haha

We also had these, which were pretty fun. But quickly moved onto the C6-5 and other non water powered rockets

Yeah those were the ones we did as kids, kind of surprised we never started a fire with them but then again we always did them at my grandparent’s place in Missouri, not in the tinder box that is CA

funny you mention that, I picked up a couple of those from the checkout aisle at the hardware store a couple weeks ago. I thought about trying to strap one to the bottle rocket but I feel like that might make it’s flight path a little unpredictable lol
