Nice looking truck, MT is a big plus too! If you happened to look inside and noticed a 5 Speed it was a 4 banger, the 6 Speed goes with the V6.

 

I didn't look that closely; I just knew it was older than 2009 because it had the shitty factory radio with no AUX input, and I'm 99% sure it's a 4-banger because it lacks a V6 emblem and a trailer hitch.

@stbear, I forgot to tag you. Do you think the above truck is a 4-banger?

I feel comfortable assuming it's a 2.7.
It has Off-Road wheels. Which didn't come on it.
Unless it's an off-road, with the stickers and V6 emblem missing.....

 

Back in 2009-2010, I spec'd out a new AC 2.7L 4x4 on Toyota's Build Your Own tool, and you could get an SR5 with those wheels...

 

Also, AFAIK....
All Off-roads had the towing package.

And I doubt any removed all those parts.

So, I too think it's a 2.7

 

They flake......
You'd be better off with the 17" sports.
I haven't seen them flake near as bad.

 

I'm not denying that; I'm just saying that when my dad first said he was buying me a new Tacoma, I immediately spec'd out what was not in the budget and even a 4-banger SR5 could be had with those wheels....

But I can't see why anyone would spec out that trim?
Most of the time, when you by a lower trim truck, there's a reason.
Cheaper, you don't need extra features.....

There is a 2014 Single cab, 2.7 4x4 for sell down the road from me.
108k miles......They want $20k for it.

The 2.7, 4x4, single cab is the "perfect" all around truck for people not needing to tow or need the extra space.
SIMPLE trucks. Easy to work on. Reliable.

My nephew is 15. We are "looking" for him a truck.
$20k is not in the budget. Plus, the truck isn't worth that anyways.

 

I was just experimenting with different trims and trying to spec out the most expensive truck my dad would pay for. Also, I did not know that my truck lacked intermittent wipers until two days after we brought it home, but I would have chosen the SR5 trim just so I could get intermittent wipers. Also, the RC can tow...

 

I know it can tow.
Toyota says 3,500 lbs.

I've seen a 2.7 1st gen pull over 10k lbs.
In short, it was on a farm, in hay season, and to "prove a point".
