    My daughter found a used HRV that has this thing installed, I’ve seen a few running around town because the dumbass dealers think this is some type of “safety feature.”

    Do they splice into the brake lights, or is this some type of easy add-on that can be removed?

    She was worried that if she buys it there might be some issue with the brake lights down the road.

    Typically it’s a module that’s spliced in to make it flash.

    Yep. It's usually installed in the driver's kick panel or sill plate.
