Drove 100 miles today in the NE Snowstorm. Suspension/Wheels all stock. Running 4H averaging 35MPH to 50MPH. Got to tell you this thing is flat solid. Roads covered anywhere with 2-4" on snow as plows could not keep up. Running in ECO and never broke traction or lost steering. I'm sure if road had deeper snow, would be a little different-but impressive to say the least.

Great to read positive stories from 24 owners, versus the doom and gloom from non-owners.

My fwd 2011 2.0 jetta can drive in 2" of snow no issues. I don't think 4" is a glowing endorsement for a 4x4 truck

haha agreed. Where I live (8000 feet) we usually get multiple feet every storm. I always carry traction boards.

Always a critic. For the record, I wouldn't with a stock truck. Now my 2017 4Runner Pro with its lift and tires. No problem

We had 8" last week and my Sport with the OEM Michelin Primacy LTX handled it fine. Even stopped on some steep hills and tried it in 2WD then 4WD Hi. Lots of slipping and the traction control doing it's thing in 2WD, but when switched to 4WD Hi, handled it no problem.

Don’t think it s the truck … tires makes a world of difference in snow conditions … u can have the most expensive truck and if u have the worst tires on it will handle like poo.

Ha, this reminds me of a time about 20 years ago that a freak snow storm hit coastal NC. I needed to get back home (to the snowy hills of West by God Virginia) in my little Jetta. I wasn't daunted because of how flat and wide the roads are, but every 2 miles there was a car stuck in their massive medians/ditches. 80% of them were trucks.

Four wheel drive vehicles are great in snow. They can however get you in a whole lot of trouble. Nothing works on ice except studs or chains. Don’t be the guy stuck in the median in two feet of snow, or at least a full tank of gas so you don’t freeze to death. Have fun and be SMART/SAFE !

    Tires, tires, tires!

First time in the snow with my SR5 and the stock Firestone's was a miserable experience. Immediately ordered a new set of tires and good thing too. Just had another storm and the result was completely different (better).

Snow tires are a life changing experience. 120% worth it if you get more than occasional snow.

I went with a 3 peak all terrain as it doesn't snow that much in PA; not near what it used to.

Did you previously have a Tacoma in similar form?

What is it about this one that behaves better in these conditions than the older one?

Not saying the truck isn't better in creature comforts or such, just looking to understand what makes it better in these conditions, if anything.
