Greetings from the far North Idaho, new member here, North Idaho Donc.
I searched some of the forums and didn't see the answer to my question.
I have a 2010 Tacoma 4x4 crew cab TRD with what appears to be a 2" Leveling Kit installed by Toyota of Renton,Wa. i need to replace the shocks, it currently has Bilistein 4600 shocks that were part of the TRD Package. I need to replace them but can't get a straight answer on whether the OEM style shocks will work of do i need to go with something designed for the leveling kit. I have spoken with three dealerships and can't get a straight answer. Help

How is it 'leveled'? Spacers up front and blocks in the rear?

Any reason you don't want new 4600s?

Fender flares,
I recently added a set of old man emu 2"lift coil springs with Bilstein 5100 height adjustable shocks to the front. Adjusted the passenger side shock to zero lift and the drivers side at the .55 inch lift due to the weight on that side. it worked, as both front sides ended up with a 2" lift. I went with Eibach 1.5" lift blocks in the rear with bilstein 5100's as well. I chose the lift blocks instead of an "add a leaf" because I do not have any additional mods on the bed and rarely haul anything. Even with the lift, the taco rides like it was OEM

4600 were not part of the TRD Package.
The “real” 4600’s are a lager diameter shock. And arguably “better”.
OE shocks look like 4600, but they are not.

I’d go 5100’s and toss the spacers.
Or 4600 if you are fine with the spacers?

A pic of your front suspension would help us answer. Right now I am going to assume as others have, you have a 2"spacer lift in the front.
4600 are the direct stock/OEM replacement shocks from bilstein and are typically used for trucks with no lift. (like my Dads.)
    https://offroad.bilstein.com/en-us/products/bilstein-b6-4600/

I also did confirm with Bilstein, that 4600s are identical in performance as 5100, there are just a few slight differences.

Having 2" of lift on stock shocks may be working but probably not the best idea. I believe they are under constant compression & will bottom out quicker and thus lead to failure

If you want to do it right, get the Bilsteins 5100 adjust them to 1.75" and remove the blocks in front. This will set you right without spending a ton of money. And you will need to get an alignment when you are done. 5100s are very close in price to 4600s and you are going to have to take the coils off either way. So there should be no difference in labor going either route.
Don't go the dealership for answers, they are only there to make money, not help you.....go to your local 4x4 shop.

Email customer/tech support and they will answer your question. But be sure to confirm you have a 2" spacer lift on front, and I am also questioning weather you actually have 4600s or the OEM/stock shocks that are yellow & Blue, but skinnier than actual 4600s (there is a difference as some stated above)

    Good Luck
