    Hey guys. I was wondering where I can buy an OEM black 4x4 tailgate badge. Right now I don’t have the badge at all and would like to add one to match my black V6 badge. There’s some I’ve found but they are overlays rather than the badge itself and I’m not sure if that would work. Is there anywhere I can buy the actual black badge itself if it ever came in black originally? I’ve added a picture of the exact one I’m looking for. I’m now wondering if that’s just a black overlay over the original chrome badge or the black badge itself? Thanks for your help.

    LOL most people go the de-badge route. They made a black out package on some of the 3rd gens that had black instead of chrome. I think it was called the SX, but not sure.
    Just get a cheap one from Amazon- This one looks the same - standalone style.

    I’m now wondering if my V6 badge is an overlay over a preexisting chrome badge or if it came black from factory. The Tacoma badges on my front doors are also black. Would you happen to know if all TRD 4x4 off road trims originally came with chrome badges? Or is a blackout package a thing for off road trims?

    IDK. I would guess most had the chrome because that's the majority of what I've seen. One of my son's friends has a quicksand 2020 OR with black badges and I asked if they were overlays. That's when I learned there was a blackout addition.
    You might be able to call a dealer and ask about the trim package from the VIN.

    Is this an overlay or does it have adhesive on the back? If you could provide a pic of the back that would be great. Also is it OEM? I just prefer OEM for quality purposes.

    It does have an adhesive backing. I got it with some other badges off eBay, so no, it’s not OEM.
