Good morning shop crew. Have a great, safe and blessed Tuesday. It’s 20* here, for Alabama that’s cold. Stay warm everyone.

@Fargo Taco can you call in and say "can't make it, have ice inside the garage" trick or nah? :jpow:

I stopped by to see my parents yesterday since I haven't seen them in a few weeks. They are doing good. It's odd though, we stopped by (all 4 of us) Thanksgiving day on the way to my inlaws to say hey and we all stood in their den (my brother was sitting on the recliner and never got up) and my parents never offered for us to sit down, they stood as well.

Yesterday it was just me, my niece was sitting on a recliner and never got up and my parents and I never got past the kitchen. I stood there thinking "why". I didn't stay long, if I don't feel welcomed somewhere, why go?

I swung by our old store on my way home and walked up to the windows and looked in.

This is what it once looked like....

    upload_2025-1-21_7-27-42.jpg

This is it now. Not sure what they are doing but they got a pile of money in a place that has....nothing left except the shell of the store. The house and shop they tore down, every tree on the place is gone, pumps and tanks and gone. Not sure what they are doing now.

Good morning shop crew, have a great Tuesday!

No ice on the inside doorknob down here yet but we’re getting close. Currently 28 with a windchill of 15, that’s supposed to drop to about 11 at 0900 when the snow starts :help: . Welcome to sunny Florida!

@Jtcmedic @Hunterdc1 how cold is it supposed to get for you guys?

Sorry for your loss Phill. Congrats to the old man on a life well lived. Cheers to him.

They do have a bunch of money tied up in your old property. Man I bet you thank the good Lord you are out of that ordeal.

Not knowing your whole dynamic with your parents I will say my relationship with my parents has been strained at times after getting married. I just try to give them the benefit of the doubt and go out of my way to be helpful. I know there will be a day they won't be around to ask for my help. And with them both smoking at age 66, I worry that day is sooner than later.

That's a tough one. I've felt that way with people before and agree, why bother if they don't seem to care. Hope it gets better, sometimes folks are just in a weird place for a while and come out of it

My parents came to our house after Christmas and took us to lunch, then came in our house for about an hour afterwards. We had them sit down, lol. Not sure why they are like that towards us all of the sudden. Nothing has been done on either side recently to make them act that way.

When I bought the Volkswagen the check engine light was on. I stopped by and had it checked at Oreilly auto yesterday. 2 codes, P0299 and P2181. First one is the recirculating valve on the turbo. $101 there, ordered one on Amazon for $16. The second one is a coolant malfunction. Which makes sense because the temp never gets over about 140. Thermostat is hung open, ordered one of those as well. I have to leave the heat on high for about 30 minutes to get it warm in the car right now.
