Third gen will last 20 years if you keep throwing money at it. No different than any other truck.

Pro's: An excellent truck for light to mild duty work. A great size. I can reach over into the bed and grab something out without needing a 6ft ladder. Very off-road capable. Great styling. Great reliability. Nice ride (I have the TRD OR). Everything I need to get around, everything works, everything is intuitive (Came from a 4Runner)
Con: The engine and transmission are crap. I mean crap. You have to get it tuned to make it palatable. Having the tune done has kept me from selling it. The back seats are very cramped for anyone except small children.

Anxiously awaiting two more years to see how the new 4Gen pans out.

Nope. Sold it for a 2G. Only regret was spending a year trying to get used to the disappointment of a drivetrain. This was a 6MT as well; and I bought it new after a months long search to add a little extra salt to the wound. But I did what needed to be done and now I'm happy.

If I hadn't taken such a loss on the change I'm not sure if I would have gone 4G or not; unknown track record, and frankly, I still think they're kind of ugly. It was a bit of a relief that the big unveiling was a bit underwhelming while coming to terms with the 3G mistake. :anonymous:

Yes. I had a 2018 OR DCLB that was totaled and now have a 2022 OR DCLB with 31k miles on it. I have no problem with the seats, the engine, or the transmission. The transmission is better than the 2018 version. I've done some upgrades like Diode Dynamics fog lights and interior lights, Meso tail lights, etc., but it is basically stock and just fine. I would not buy a 2024 until after they have been out a few years.

7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

If I could win the lottery I'd buy up every remaining 2023 out there and just sit on 'em.

    You couldn't give me a 2024.

You couldn't give me another one of these even if it was a PRO and free gas for life. I bought mine as a daily driver as it didn't seem feasible to keep daily driving a 2500 75 miles a day and JFC I hate it. Currently waiting on an opportunity to get into a reg cab short bed 5.0 or a clean GMT900 duramax to come along. Other than liking the color I can't think of one thing I haven't udder MF'er at while being in or around this uncomfortable POS.

Most definitely. I should have bought two 2017s and put one in storage for when I use my present one up in 2079.

Still wishing I kept my 2020 trd or premium 4runner and dumped the 2017 trd or turd gen.

If only they made the logical choice and used the dual VVTI 1GR instead of creating a second 2GR-FKS block design to use as the Tacoma 2GR and overseas 7GR.

Are you insinuating there’s something wrong with doing that?

    Absolutely.

I love my truck. I use it for daily driving, work (towing trailer), offroad, camping, fishing etc. It does everything I ask it to.

Zero issues since I bought my truck new. Engine has good power and gets decent MPGs if driven conservatively. "Issues" on this forum are definitely blown out of proportion. Ive met a LOT of 3G owners and all of them have no mechanical issues. 3G is proven to be just as reliable as good ol 1G and 2G. AT in these trucks is bulletproof, no issues there. Im sure my taco will easily make 400K+ miles without any major repairs.

I would love to have a second 3G tacoma but just dont have the money at the moment.
