Nice. Who owns the Wagoneer at the edge of the second picture?

I really miss my full size Wagoneer. I used an OEM Wagoneer as a sort of crawler, to the dismay of my wife. We had stopped to look at something while crawling in low range in a bouldery wash. She couldn't close her door fully when she tried to get back in and was concerned that I had tweaked the frame. I just chuckled and told her to wait until we got on flat ground to try the door again. It closed, of course. Then we got up to highway speed and when I let go of the steering wheel it kept tracking straight.

The prices on Grand Wagoneers have become insane. If I found a decent one at a decent price, I might be tempted to buy it. Just adding a full-length leaf to each standard spring pack produces an amazing result.

Well, we also used it to tow a 19 foot travel trailer. That was an exciting and sometimes perilous experience. My daughter, God love her, used to think of me as Captain Blood as I was working to keep it at 55 to 60 and straight ahead even in a small quartering tailwind when towing. When not towing, we got up to 12 mpg. When towing, we got 5 mpg with gusts to 6 mpg. Because I could never get the distributor curve right, we had to use 91 octane fuel. We ended up trading it for a new 1996 3/4 tn Dodge Cummins 4/4 club cab and a bazillion payments. Later came a 23 foot travel trailer, well, because why not. The Dodge gets 16 mpg at 62 mph towing on flat ground.

We still miss the Wagoneer. It was plus, comfy, and with the added spring leaves and in the AWD setting, it had just enough oversteer to be a hoot to drive. Now there are electronic fuel injection and HEI conversions that really improve the mileage. So any Waggy we would buy would get those upgrades. Or maybe a conversion to a 4 cylinder Cummins 3.9. Well, because.:crapstorm:

But with my 71st birthday approaching, the last thing I need is another project!

Las Vegas has hills ... this is one in view of a home for rent in a nice neighborhood. Gas is $5.00/gallon in Wickieup, $3.50-ish in Las Vegas. I drove a Ferrari 488 GBT on a track south of Las Vegas and reached 120 MPH in an 1800 ft stretch of the track. Could have driven an AMG Mercedes, a Huracan, a Porsche 911 GTS RS3, or several other vehicles. "Speed Vegas", if you are interested. Yes, it did cost more than $5 for the 7 laps around the track.

It is a trap to draw in people with pending felony gun warrants ... you want in the front door free and out the back in handcuffs. Given that, best that YOU stay away ... :boink:

Seriously ... police do that occasionally. Then send out "party invitations" and the guests with warrants are quietly escorted out the back of the building.
