Like I said over seen all the videos. That one especially goes against everything I've experienced. K02s were meh for me, a bottom tier at tire. By all account's the k03s are lot better but they aren't cheap either and given my feeling on k02s I wasn't ready to try out bfg again. Funny thing about my at4ws is they were significantly cheaper then the other options, paid 1570 cad for my set of 285s. So that's was a big plus in my books.

Watched every video. My wife thinks I’m a mental case. Discount tire said I can swap the tires and they are being super flexible with me. As of now I’m considering the SL Falken 285/65/18 but that’s not as tall as I want (32.6”) and the grabber ATX in SL 275/70/18 (perfect size but the guys at Discount said that nobody buys them .. which makes me question their quality). I could also get e loaded Nokians. I hear they run comfortable (but people also said that about the Falken Es). I also could do the new Nitto G3s in 275/70/18. I’m in information overload not sure what to do. Just want a decently tough tire that will not feel like iron over even the tiniest bumps and has the diameter I want.

I know plenty of people who have used the General Grabber ATX. There is pages of them on here. They seem to be similar to the bfg ko2 but with better siping and water ejection. Another couple that you could look at in 275 70 17 is the Goodyear Wrangler Territory. They are one of the lighter aggressive tires out there in that size. (I've seen that tire on trails a lot too so it must be pretty good. For the most part lighter usually means a softer ride.) Then the Cooper Stronghold. There is a very detailed review on that tire here on Tacoma World. The dude using them in remote areas in South America. Praising them.

That’s super helpful. I like the look of the Grabbers quite a lot. I just look at them as a budget tire. But I may end up getting them. If I could make my own tire it would be a Load C 275/70/18 from Mickey Thompson or Falken that weighs around 50lb.

Yeah, just bought this truck and went with Falken 265/75R16 SL 31.7in 45lbs, had a Road Force balancing. And all is well... Not too loud, well I can't hear well... Was on ice the other day and I thought it stopped in a reasonable distance. Due to extensive siping and the depth of it I give these tires a good chance of doing well in snow and stopping is not how I grade a tire on snow. I define good on snow as traction. Idea, when in bad weather conditions slow down a bit. I saw one or two videos out of dozens that rated these tires as poor in any conditions.

These are terrible photos but I after wanting to switch over to the new AT4s since they came out in 255/85r16, I finally went over to America's Tire to get a set. I'm coming from Wild peak MT01s in the same size. I don't mind the stiffer ride or the noise from MTs but I couldn't stand the lack of grip in wet weather so I finally switched to the AT4Ws now that we finally have ATs in that size that isn't the Coopers. I haven't had a chance to do much driving with them yet since I had to get back go work after the tire installation, but they're a lot quieter, as expected, and so far they felt like they ride smoother. From a dead stop, if I gave even 10% throttle with the MT01s, the rear tires would lose traction and do a mini burnout in wet conditions. I can floor it from a dead stop with the ATs and not lose grip.

One thing I got completely wrong was the weight between the 2 tires. For some reason I had it in my mind the entire time I had the MTs that they weighed 59lbs each. The AT4Ws in this size are 58lbs so I thought "oh cool, they're not too different in weight so my mpgs shouldn't drop, maybe even get better." I looked on the specs sheet on America's Tire's website last night and turns out the MTs are actually 51lbs?? So I'm actually adding 7lbs per tire on top of the 11lbs or so that the MT01s had over the factory Wranglers. Again, I just got the new wild peaks so I can't say for certain if it's had an effect on fuel economy yet. Here's some really shitty photos I took while trying to get out of the rain earlier today:

I went from 255 yoko g003s that are 56lbs to 285 at4ws that are 62lbs and my fuel economy went down 1.5l per 100. Rolling resistance on cupped mts is shit. The mts were an experiment. Now I can confirm they cup like crazy with a perfect alignment/ rotating ever 5k km and do nothing for me but look good.

Swap them out for AT4W but in 285/70/18 they have them in C load. Maybe they will ride better than E load.

Nice truck. Curious if you had to cut or trim anything running that size. I know some people do and some don’t but haven’t seen a lot of chatter concerning these specific rims. I have a trail edition with the same bronze wheels and a 1 inch lift. Please post a long term review when able.
thank you in advance. Happy holidays

Thanks. My truck has a 2" lift on the front and 1.5 rear (6112/5160). When I first switched to 255/85r16s, there wasn't any rubbing even when off roading of compressing the suspension and turning into a driveway. That was on stock UCAs. I got OME arms earlier this year and ever since I put them on, they've rubbed when I turn into my drive way going faster than 5mph. It's rubbed when I off roaded, too also when turning the wheel and driving through a dip or uneven ground. Basically it rubs when the wheel is turned and it gets pushed back enough to either hit the fender liner or the body mount right next to it. The place I took it to for the lift is the same place I went to for the control arms to be installed and I've noticed that while they do a fantastic job at installing my lift, they're not the best with alignments so I took it to another local auto shop recommended by someone else on TW and the guy did do a good job, but I'm still rubbing. Before I took it to this guy, both my front wheels were rubbing. After, the passenger doesn't rub but the drivers front still does to this day. I asked him to adjust the caster to 3.5 or high as best he can and he got it for the passenger, not the drivers which is probably why it's rubbing. I'm planning on taking it to an off road dedicated shop eventually to have the alignment dialed in. I even called them, Beep's Off Road in the SF Bay Area. First thing thr guy asked me was what truck, lift, tires, and upper control arms and I asked him if he could dial in the caster to 3.5+ with the set up I told him over the phone and he said shouldn't be a problem. Now I just gotta find time to drive my ass down there, lmao.

I have this issue too. I read it was going to happen so i sort of expected it. I just didn't think it would be as bad as it it. I only replaced my uca's due to needing a ball joint and my local dealer daid they dont sell the ball joints separately. So i didn't trust an after market ball joint to stay in the oem arm with how hard I wheel. Most aftermarket control arms move the tire further back towards the firewall and make rubbing worse than stock arms. If I were to do it again I'd just replace with oem arms. If you are no more than 2 to 2.5 inch lift aftermarket arms generally aren't even necessary.

Thank you gentlemen. I didn’t plan on changing out the UCA’s because I only plan on adding billstein 5100s and setting the fronts to the second groove (.65) to level it a little better. I keep hearing lift doesn’t necessarily change the whole rubbing thing but wheel offset does so I appreciate your responses. I have OK 4wd out here in western nj that I’m sure can straighten me out if this project gets sideways but it sounds like if I get rubbing it’ll be minimal. Was really afraid of a cab mount chop.
happy holidays and looking forward to y’all’s long term reports on those tires.

I wasn't going to get the OMEs and I kept the stock ones for a year but when my friend lifted his taco, he got the OMEs that I was eyeing for months so I caved and got a set. I had already known a lot of aftermarket UCAs have some built in caster so I told the shop to align it with 3.5 caster since that's what most people here say they did for theirs with pizza cutters. So yeah, the only reason I got the OMEs was because of temptation. Such is the modding life, lmao.

Does any one know what the real world differences are between the AT4W
    LT255/80R17 (Load E 58.1 lbs) and the AT4W
LT255/85R16 (Load C 58.4 lbs)? The weight is basically identical. I want load C pizza cutters but these at almost 59 lbs seem too burly to have the benefits of a load C AT.

Part of the skinny club now with 255/85/16 AT4W’s! Not much clearance, and the spare was damn tight. And a pox for four generations on the engineer that decided the spare tire hanger needed to bolt in from the top.

Update from my previous post a few pages back regarding winter driving.

In light snow/ice I was not impressed with the AT4W, but we had some 3-6 inch snow recently and they did awesome. Unplowed, plowed with packed top layer and messy loose surfaces in 2wd with just topper weight and I had little slippage around town.

Horrible on ice (Typical of anything thats not a true winter tire, but some tires are better than others. These are not those.)
Light snow that doesn't pack into tread wasn't great.
Deep enough snow to pack into tread was awesome.

Update on my tire's hunt. I finally went with the AT4W. I was debating between the KO3 and the Falken. My decision factor was weight + the higher chance to face rain vs snow on my drives. I picked the "lighter" option in 265/75/16 (aka. SL not the E load).

Drove about ~1,000 miles since the install: dry, rain, ice, snow

Same as @guaco.supreme: on ice you have to be careful. I had Michelin Defender in 265/70/16 before and I can tell the huge difference.

But overall, very happy with the tires. They are heavier than my previous mount. I feel it when I accelerate at take off but nothing concerning. They are very quiet. I went 1/2 inch higher and I like it. So far no balancing issue.

Haha like they get a true 35 yet tire rack only shows a metric 35 for the 16 inch category.

    Anyone know why? Lol

Also, 39 pages for an at4w thread, wow! I have 33s in at3w. Absolutely love them, so much so I almost prefer staying with at3w for my next set if I can find them . Disclaimer I've only really driven on at3w, so probably not the most valuable opinion.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
The AT3w are better on snow and ice if you have that in your daily driving.
