My son had over 100’ of split rail fencing given to him on a job where they were replacing said fence . 3 rail and all the green coated wire . Expanded our garden . New measurements are 50’ X 30’ give or take a few inches . Lots of work for spring time to be done including a new gate . I have mahogany decking boards that were also free from my last job . They should make a real nice gate .

 

Your "Herb" garden

 

99% vegetable. Only had one plant in there this summer

I appreciate wilcam47 mention of your herb entry, that sure was a beauty. Some weeds are quite beneficial.

 

Been plucking a handful at a time the past few weeks. This Haas avocado tree has been a champ the past two years, over 150 last year. This year had a storm come through and take out a loaded branch of fruit, lost 90 fruit. Still, have about a hundred left.

This time of year Bitter Melon and Winter Melon are thriving. Great health benefits of Bitter Melon, i grill it a few times a week. The Winter Melon we sauté in a pan with chicken, teriyaki sauce, olive oil, and a handful of other veggies.

Papaya has been tasty and plentiful the past few weeks. This Moringa tree grew from a harvested seed of an older moringa tree we have.

Been having fun this year with harvesting, roasting, and consuming the coffee we grew. Been a learning experience.

Spring can not arrive soon enough

 

Frankly and oddly we have not had enough cold YET here.

I need to prune and move things. Elderberries are moving. They overtook currant and gooseberry area.

 

They did not last long here. Im sorry i dropped off here for awhile, missed your reply. Will hit you up at next harvest hopefully.

 

Got a new hoop greenhouse.

 

Heavy frost here on the non greenhouse beds.

The cedar garden beds lasted 3.5 years we are trying 18g galvanized ones this time.

My son is going to find the last ripe Everglades tomato probably later today.

 

If that was me the deer would likely have got it first but that was 4 months ago.

 

Tomorrow night is supposed to be Negative 15 wind chill, hopefully the new blueberries got established enough to survive.

Wow. We were supposed to get some snow, and it missed us. I guess it moved way to the south.
Did you lose any plants, any idea yet?

 

Greenhouse is still at 30* outside is 19* I think those plants will be fine. We only plant cold weather plants after October so the kale and cabbage will be mostly fine. Ornamentals and bananas are going to take a toll.
