It would be interesting next year to align your oil change just before winter with an oil with better cold cranking viscosity to see if it makes a difference (not all 0w-20 are created equal in this regard). What brand oil are you using now? Super Tech HM is 5,236. (https://pqia.org/super-tech-sae-0w-20-high-mileage-full-synthetic-motor-oil/), while Amsoil is 5,723 (http://pqiadata.org/AMSOIL0W20.html). Going slightly thicker to 5w-20 can drastically change things for the worse as Super Tech barely meets the the cold cranking viscosity standards at 5w. (http://pqiadata.org/SuperTech_5W20.html).

Just to save you potential headaches…I purchased the same style that was aftermarket and had to return them due to fogging. The aftermarket makers use vented stickers instead of rubber and they can fail when they curl up. You can search my post on this. I ended up returning them and went with OEM. Just FYI.

Installed the OEM Trail edition grille. Took about 30 mins. Glad it matches the wheels! No TSS error too.

EDIT - my stock 2022 sport grille with TSS is for sale! DM me if interested

I picked up mine off of Amazon for a very good price, and 1.5 years in they are still sealed. I'm well aware I could have problems at any time...but so far so good.
If you go with aftermarket it's a definite risk, and my OEMs are in a box in the garage.

I think the aftermarket stuff is just really hit and miss. Before I bought OEM, I saw a lot of positive reviews of the aftermarket ones I bought, but in my case I got a bad set. Hopefully you have better luck than me!

Pennzoil platinum full synthetic. 0w20. These motors really shouldn't be finnecky about the oil just as long as it's in spec.... But here I am ... Wondering

Is it a bad batch of OEM filters? Is it the oil? Should I switch oil to Mobile1? Should I just say to hell with all of it and ignore it because it's just a "Tacoma feature".Annoying... I checked my dipstick today before leaving work and I'm at the full mark. It was 22 degrees and no issues.on cold start..

This AM it was 9 degrees and my truck yelled at me again... Low Oil pressure... For 4 seconds.... Then back up for 2 seconds... Then again for one second...

My son has the same truck in a v6 and his display isn't telling him Low Oil Pressure..

I'm having a suspicion that this last batch of oil filters i purchased has a faulty ain't drainback valve or something

-8F The Taco started up fine, sounded a little different, and took forever to warm up. Temp gauge would swing from straight up, back to the first bar, then back to normal.

Just what I need - something else to mod. :D

Penzoil platinum has a pretty high cold cranking viscosity, so it's probably not the issue.

    Yeah

I'm really leaning towards these oil filters.
    I bought 5 a year ago.

I just bought another 5 from eBay and used 2. Im gonna run some seafoam through the crank case and get a filter from the local dealer... See if that fixes my random cold start rattle and my low oil pressure dummy light

Mine starts right up.. no issues... I just keep getting low oil pressure whenever the temp is below 20

None to speak of, just enjoying it for the moment.
Hopefully you saved enough buying those filters off ebay to overhaul your engine. Why not get them from the dealer? Hopefully you haven't damaged it. I have never had any oil pressure issues, granted it only gets down to about 15 degrees here but still there's no way I would try to save a few dollars on cheap filters for an engine that costs thousands of dollars to rebuild or replace, not a chance!
Oil and the filter are two items you should NEVER skimp on, ever. Just some unsolicited advice.

Looking for recommendations on upgrading my leafs. Got the Elka 2.0 right now and loving it but figure when fully loaded (topper, tent , awning , single drawer system, accessories) I’ll need either a heavy duty leaf pack or have thought about a icon AAL. Lemme know what you guys have done! Thanks

eBay is known for having knock off, poor quality 'Toyota" filters and plugs.. Best to only order oil filters and spark plugs from a brick and mortar parts house or a Toyota dealer... Rock Auto has had some issues with the same knock off parts...

Agreed. An off-brand generic tailgate shell (steel plates) can be done on-the-cheap. Some things are best left to OEM.

I buy only OEM filters and currently using OEM 0-20W. The other day it was -3 and my truck started just fine, no unusual issues at all. Last time I was near the dealer I bought 3 filters and 3 6qt boxes of oil. That’ll cover me for the next 15,000 miles.

Wait, do you refer to northeast US region as Southeast "North America" ? I never thought of it that way, interesting.
