Morning all. -3° for the first pup walk of the day. She doesn’t seem to care at all about it.

 

You guessed right… that ain’t happening! We’ve been pretty good through the past few winters with staying busy, but this year has been rough!

 

That sucks for the unpaid days off. Maybe there will be tons of OT once the weather breaks with contractors trying to get back on schedule.

I get to lay on a piece of cardboard in the driveway tomorrow to install the ADD sensor on the front diff on the T4R. I hope that fixes the issue, I want to drive the damn rig.

 

So I know how this is going to sound, and it was sounding like a scam to me as well…

It all started on the Reddit Tacoma sub thread that I’ve started to be pretty active on. Then a DM from a woman asking about my truck and my hobbies. She said she’s a part of a company called Ceavoon that makes higher-end seat covers. Asked me if I’d be willing to do some research? Explained to me that basically they’d give me a set of front and rear seat covers, from my choice of 3 color patterns, and all I had to do was take before/durring/after pics and write a review. And possibly another review in the future after a few months of use.

Alright… what’s the catch? She sent me the link to their Amazon page and said first pick a set. Then add to cart with all tax and discount code applied and take a screen shot. She’d then send me the money, via any electronic payment method I so choose, so I can then complete the purchase. This still sounded a bit off to me.

So I called PayPal and explained what was happening annd asked them about my protection… was told that no matter whom sent me any money, they’d have ZERO way of gaining access to anything personal. And that I was covered via PayPal insurance if their company was hacked.

So I sent her my email… let’s see how this plays out! Worst case, she has my email and I get a bunch of spam. To my surprise, within a minute or two I had a deposit to my PayPal. Ok, that’s cool. I then went into PayPal and transferred funds to my account. Then back to the Amazon site to order the seats.

Then today, after two days, boom!



…front and rear seats, headrests and AirBag approved!

Li Liu @Ceavoon seats has been awesome! Kept her word and this was all on the up and up!!

Upon initial opening they were packaged very well. And seats feel very well made. They aren’t real leather, but are definitely better than expected by far! Stitching is all super tight and material is very thick and durable, yet feels soft to the touch!

With the weather MD is having, it may be a while before I get a chance to really install these… but I’m looking forward to it!

They shipped direct from Amazon facility. Delivered in two days time.

Believe me, I am not one to be trustworthy of anyone these days. The only reason I took a chance was PayPal said I was covered by their insurance guarantee. Worst case scenario, someone got my email. Which I’m pretty sure anyone can get at this point.

All said, I got a really nice set of covers for FREE! So happy I followed through.

 

Id be interested lol. I’ve done a few things like that in the past and it’s turned out ok.

That's one Red flag after another. I'm surprised it worked out....and the Ceavoon name sounds like one of those Chinese alphabet names that have flooded Amazon.

 

Got the Rav back today, after three weeks on an open TAS case, diagnosed with the a shorted CANbus module in the rear camera. Replacement camera is on backorder til mid-February so it'll go back once it arrives. Fingers crossed.

 

Thinking about putting 285/70-17s (34s) on the Taco (17" because I want load range C). Will be putting a Wescott kit on the front to gain another 1.5" over the stock PRO. Was thinking about using the go to 4Runner Pro wheels (

$280 PTR2035110BK Toyota 2010-2024 4runner TRD 17" Matte Black Wheel PTR20-35110-BK

PTR2035110BK) that are the same offset as the 16" that came on my Taco. I've got the CMC plates to put on, but looking for experiences around whether the trimming and potential pinch seam pounding might be less with different offset wheels. Trying to keep the OEM TRD Pro UCAs until I do a full suspension upgrade.
