When i did my garage, the electricians wanted the same thing...lay the conduit and then fill and then they will pull through it. It was around 150ft too. Mine did have ~30 ft that had to be backfilled as it was passing by a pipeline pipe that the owners had to be present to work around. I did run a good pull line through for them at least which they were appreciative of even though the just used it to do their own pull line.

But, I will say, it only took them ~15 minutes to get the line run with just two guys. Laid out the line, hooked it up, and just pushed/pulled it and wasnt bad at all.

Granted, I was doing the trenching/backfilling and also purchased all the conduit and laid it out but the conduit portion shouldnt have mattered

At least you ran a fish line that they could use for their own. This guy didn’t even do that. Plus, he’ll be installing the cable in 20* temps…. Have fun with that!

It’s much easier to pull through a fixed conduit than one that’s moving.

Agreed but if I have the cable and the conduit, I’m running both simultaneously

No argument from me. Every time I have to tap into my house electric I want to strangle the electrician…

Pushing a tape through the conduit isnt hard. And yes pulling multiconductors will be easier after the conduit isnt moving around

At least you dug a ditch and laid in some conduit. I found some Romex about 4" under the dirt that goes from my foundation then towards the shed.

If it is gray in color, it is outdoor Romex - OK to not be in conduit.

    4" however, is too shallow.

Oh no, the PO couldn't be bothered with doing a single F-N thing remotely close to being "good enough". It looks like 14/3 white Romex.

Lol it was around there when they were here. Was even more annoying cause we had some snow on unfrozen ground and they didnt come till after lunch or so. Sun melted the snow and made it a bit of a muddy mess. They never complained though

Ive found so much buried wire around our property its not even funny. Luckily its all old and "dead". They used to have lights and stuff all over I guess and just buried the wire 6-12" down. It was irrigated too at some point so there is tons of old poly water lines too. Makes digging fun

Because everyone hates working with UF-B, so you only buy it if you really need it. Supply & demand. I used it once because Lowes was out of 14/2 Romex and I needed to finish the project that weekend, so UF-B it was. Rest of the coil is still sitting in my supply drawer, several projects later.

I didnt think it was any more work than regular romex.

Really? I always hate stripping the outer insulation since it's cast solid around the conductors, and you can't just run a knife down it like you can the outer sheath of Romex. I mean, it's manageable but definitely a bit trickier.

Its been a while since i used it but certainly not enough to make me think it was a pain. Granted i work with industrial multiconductor fairly often that has multiple layers/shielding

Been awhile since I posted any progress on the new shop last summer. If I get everything sorted and moved in by summer, I'll be amazed. 50yrs of accumulation.

in low temps, with multiple conductors, i always pulled a fish tape through as i connected the underground conduit together. made fishing in the wire at the end a breeze.

also had far too many backfill operations that either moved or damaged the conduit enough to make pulling wire later a mistake.. at least get the wire in and powered up, then they'll know when they hit something!

of course, my truck always had 3 shovels on it at all times. i wasn't afraid to dig, but most customers didn't like the bill after i did!

Is it possible to hire someone just to review electrical work and point out any code violations? Home inspector? Or actual electrician? Kinda curious to maybe do that so I can learn a bit more and proactively address things.
