Just found out my ac compressor clutch bearing is going out so since it’s cold out I snipped the belt and will replace the bearing and belt in the spring, but my trucks been running 10+ degrees hotter and intake temps are arising too. Does the ac somehow cool something that I didn’t know about? I have a new belt and can put back on but I’d like to know before I do anything else

AC has nothing to do with keeping the engine cool. It actually does the opposite when running the unit

Only thing that I can think of that could MAYBE make the truck run cooler with the AC would be related to the AC idle up function. When the compressor turns on, the truck will idle at a higher rpm, which could in turn make the cooling fan push more air.

I would check the thermostatic clutch first. When you start it cold does the fan "roar" and then get quite? The next thing is when the motor is off spin it by hand, there should be some resisitance, if it free wheels replace it. This is an easy job and can be done in the driveway. Toyota makes 2 fan clutches, at least they used to, the "green" one is the heavy duty one and is prefered.

2.7l with the 5 speed manual, and I have a clutch fan not a electric one. And my truck hasn’t had any issues warming up faster or slower either. I don’t believe it’s the thermostat.

its not that I was running the ac, it’s -5 over here in Iowa it’s just that the ac belt isn’t on. Which is so weird cause it’s not even driving anything with the AC off??

It has to be a coincidence. Like stated earlier, the AC has nothing to do with cooling the engine. With the AC running your truck would actually heat up more.

There has to be something else that changed that the same time that you removed the AC belt.

1 is green and one is orange the (HD) green one came with the towing package. If the spring failed causing the fan to run in direct drive all the time than it would run cooler. In theory.
