This stuff is better than anything Redwood Empire has ever made. There's a sleeper craft distillery in CA that no one is paying attention to.

I live in CA and have never seen it in the shelf. I will likely have to mail order a bottle.

I don't know if I would go to that length, but it's absolutely worth it's MSRP.

I'd never heard of them either, but thought worth a try and liked it as well.

I also have a bottle of their howling mob bourbon, but haven't cracked it yet.

I'm going to OBX soon- are there any local stores I should hit for Bourbon hunting there or along the way?

The OBX isn’t a good bourbon Hunting spot in my experience, just typical mixers. I take anything I wanna sip on and use the bourbon hunting funds for the tackle shop.

NC is a control state, so unless you just have great luckamd happen to pop in on a drop day, you’re not gonna find much.

    where you coming from?

The only empty bottle I will keep. A couple of years back, I hired a former soldier I knew very well in Afghanistan. What a great guy. At the civilian job I hired him for, he was severely injured after some Karen-Mom ran him over at an intersection. He was hurt very badly. I took a bold stance at work, and arranged for his pay to continue while he recuperated.

It took several months, but let me tell ya. Josh worked from home every damned day, and accelerated his physical therapy to get back to work. Due to the wars, he quit drinking, but kept this bottle locked away for someone.

He returned to work, never lost a single paycheck, didn’t lose his house, and got promoted shortly after he returned. He gave me this bottle, and ya know, after 13 years in Afghanistan, this is the only gift anyone has ever given me. It means a lot.

Really makes me feel good that even when I’m a selfish PTSD’d asshole, someone cares enough to say thanks.

Keep that in mind when it’s too easy let someone go. Josh is an amazing person, and deserves everything I could accomodate.

I haven’t even mentioned we were in a fire fight together in Kandahar (I was a retired army-civilian) he got a silver star with a V and I received the equivilent DoD civilian service award under fire.

Life pays dividends, and man is it great when you can pay it back!

I appreciate you sharing your story and for your service to our country. Josh seems like an exceptional person and friend that we would all love to have in our lives. Semper Paratus.
