When it comes to brakes youre on the right path...
At ford theres rotorcraft cheapies & ford pads...
My guys always push the customer to not cheap out, less possibility of squeaking, etc...
Looks like you git it handled but I was going to suggest, as many times as you stated what you wanted, if you brought the issue to their attention, they would have no choice but to make it right which they did...

Possible they didnt have the higher quality pads available & truck already torn down, in a bind, get it done, scenario....
he won't know, not that big of a deal, writer brain fart or panicked when the situation came up, forgot to tell the tech the correct info, lack of proper communication & documentation, could even have been a parts dept screw-up....
I can go on & on for days, team systems....
1 guy ordered the part, parts dept didnt read correctly & pulled the wrong part, but a different tech installed the part that his team-mate ordered, or helper even, didnt know any better, just installed the pads that were charged out...
    bl bla bla....

So naive, there is no accountability and everyone just passes the blame. Switching parts for cheaper versions is common place and dealers claim that they are saving customers money. In reality anything that wears shouldn’t have a cheap option

Couldn't wait to get my 2 free oil changes out of the way so I'd never have to step foot in the dealership ever again.

You can actually do those yourself, as myself and many do.
The few bucks saved by the free service and four hour wait don't even come out in the wash.

I do the oil changes on my Wrangler and E450 motorhome. Super easy on those two motors. I leave the Tacoma for my local shop. I know it's not too difficult but I put 90% of all my mileage on the Tacoma. Probably 4 oil changes per year on it. That stupid oil filter and skid plate in 20° temps would put my old shoulders to the test. Other 2 vehicles get one change a year in the spring. Only put 3k maybe on each.

That's not a first time I've seen you excuse dealership screw-ups or badger people who had problems with dealer's service. You work for a dealer?

Anyone who works in the industry, not just dealers knows that people make mistakes. It's how they deal with the mistakes that set them apart. Not every shop is out to rip people off.

Very few are not. Not in my experience:

One GA Toyota dealer stripped a screw on the oil filter door on a crash plate during the 1st oil change. I caught because I expect dealers to fail and check work every time. It took 30 min of arguing before they agreed to order and pay for replacement screws fr me.

Another GA dealer refused to service ATF on my RAV4 with 115K miles AFTER I scheduled the appt a month in advance and called them back to verify they would do it. Vehicle mileage and all info were entered in during the appt scheduling as well.
Prior ATF service was done at 75K miles at another Toyota dealer, records were in Toyota computers. I came in, pulled into the bay, they looked at the odometer, service writer told me they do not service vehicles with 100K miles or more. I lost 2.5 hours that day. Had my mechanic do it the following week.

Chrysler dealer did not put an engine cover one on one occasion, on another overfilled the engine by 2 quarts ( I made them drain it). Underfilled AT by 2 quarts (cost me a new transmission).

Toyota in Anchorage AK was horrible as well.

I had only one honest dealer, and it was long ago, in Alaska, sold and serviced Porsche, Audi, VW and Isuzu.

My private mechanic is honest, good and more than fair. He takes care of my cars, saves me money whenever he can. I drop off homemade jams and jellies for him, from time to time. I've sent multiple people to him. None came back to bite me.

Wow! That is some serious shafting of the first order, and very, very deceptive! That adjuster probably came this close || to getting a big raise & promotion! Until you came along!
Imagine if it was something obvious like new tires, you went in and negotiated a good deal on some very specific new tires that you want, and then when the job is complete, they've installed used re-treads. But they never mention it at all, not even a wink, just "time to pay the piper" and they make you pay full price for the brand new tires you requested & agreed to.
