ight i got a poll for everyone today! it came into my mind after looking at a group chat of friends that all ride. one of our buddies is ridding in to work today. 1.5 hours on the highway in 6 degree weather... yes he has heated gear but he has even stated its just miserable but its cheaper on gas then his truck!

so what is your no go on temp with heated gear and without heated gear!

I don't have heated gear, just heated grips. I won't ride when it's in the 40s, it's just not enjoyable for my old bones. I ride my bike for fun, not torture.

Its a bit heavy but i think it will undercut new drz sales if it stays available given ktms current status.

$5500 for similar specs, ktm having more vs $8k+ drz
Ive done single digits, no heated gear on highway for about 30 min. Thats my limit.

Hope he has some good gloves otherwise he might get frostbite.

Thinking about trading my 890 in for a 690sm. My 890 only has 900mi on it.

i dont have anything heated lol ive riden in 30 degrees and thats my limit but tbh i dont wanna be in below 40 haha im out to enjoy my ride.
idk if the new ktm will truly undercut the sales of the new drz tbh this one is heavy and if anyone has ridden the 390 adventure its a pretty gutless little thing. the price point is the big one thou its cheap!

    that sounds miserable lol

i think he has heated gloves not sure tbh! i know he has a load of heated gear for his rides! he is riding out from topeka to kcmo

    I would
A stock drz is gutless too. Its just been so rasy to slap a jd jet kit on it. But its FI now so that wont be the case and dont forget it is also heavier than the gen 1

oh i know they are gutless but not as bad as the 390 adventure id say personally. the FI model is claiming more power but we still dont really know yet if its power to the wheel or if its just power to the crank... so gotta wait and see sadly on that part. the weight is heavier which honestly sucks but i dont think it was 350lbs if i remember correctly? the main selling point of the 390 will be its price

No. No 450s are factory legal. Which being in commiefornia i doubt is doable

No the drz lost power and all manufacturer specs are at the crank to my knowledge.

Im not saying the new drz is 350lbs heavy. Im just stating that is heavier than its outgoing generation which was ~320. So its not that drastic of a weight difference compared to 350 lbs and still being probably 3k cheaper (390)

In all honesty I'm on the fence on what I want to do. I might move entirely away from ktm. Been looking at the yamaha yz250 2 stroke. I still have my cbr1000rr that will need a overhaul tho. Haven't rode it in over 5yrs

With heated gear I've ridden at 7 degrees but only about 10 miles going to work. Not sure if I'd want to do 1.5 hours but I think I could if necessary. Without heated gear I've ridden at 37-38 degrees for the better part of a day and roughly 250 miles. That day involved multiple breaks for coffee and to warm up. First long distance rally I entered we saw temps in the low 40's then mid to high 30's for several hundred miles and no heated gear or heated grips.

the only thing i cant see is the hp true loss since the new one is at 38? and the last model was 39 but at 8400rpm people state its 31hp. thats the part i want to see if the power is truly to the wheels or if its gonna be now 30hp at 8400rpm but we wont know until it is truly out and someone tests it.

ya i still dont get how they are making it heavier then it was lol they claim its been changed every where. the ktm being 350+ seems heavy af for a ktm model dualsport. the price on the ktm is waaay better thou! i really hope the new drz wont be 8k but i can seem them pushing that claiming its new and improved fully.

Don’t know how hard it is to make it street legal in New Jersey but it can’t be impossible!

I haven't been using it for the past 8 months or so, and my dad doesn't want to drive it either. I have the Subaru + trailer if I need to haul motorcycles or anything big. Plus, I need to clear up space!

Probably mid-20's is the lowest I'll go now that I have the Gerbing heated gear. My issue is my helmet fogs super quickly at those temperatures even with a Pinlock.

Ive had nothing but issues with my ktm. It's always throwing codes. Not even over 1000mi yet.
