I have a 2019 TRD sport -stock set up. Still have the chin strap on in the front, clean air filter , psi is within 2 of the recommended tire pressure. I am getting roughly 15 around town /maybe 18 on the highway-I don't drive the truck like a "raped -ape" and my mpg is not close to the suggested 18-22 mpg the truck is supposed to get. My buddy that has a 4 Runner swears something must be wrong with my truck....... In the spring, I was considering taking the chinstrap off and do a 2/1 lift But keep tire size the same. Yes, I am aware I will see a decrease in gas mileage. My fear is if I do those two modifications and add the OTT tune will I essentially be getting tundra gas mileage? Like 13/16 Which is basically what I am at now with a six-cylinder.....stock tires /small lift-I hate to say, if I am basically going to get tundra gas mileage with those mods then I likely will go get a tundra for the better towing more room inside with essentially the same fuel economy-

If you bought a Tacoma thinking it'd get good gas mileage, you might want to return to the dealer....

Also it's winter, you're running a higher ethanol blend.

Your observations are as it is, and as it will be. Albeit for the chin strap, which in and of itself isn't going to make any difference one way or the other.
Get the Tundra. There'd be a NA Tundra in my garage, if only it would fit.

Idk what to say man, it sounds like you have a solution already

A lot of us are getting the same mpgs with winter blend fuel

If a higher number on the dash makes you feel better, just pay for it at the pump with Shell 93 lol

    1. Put smaller tires, 245s.
    2. Install bumper airdam
    3. Use Mobil 1 or Valvoline premium oil & oem oil filter
    4. You bought TRD truck, meant for off roading. If you want better gas milage, turn it into SR5. Smaller tires & air dam

I am getting 22/23 in cold winter weather currently, around , 25 ish in summer on highways.

Driving habits matter too, engines love highways and hate traffic, also they love holding same speed compared to constant brake/acceleration

    2) OP, bought the Sport, which, of course, comes with the chin strap, and as he mentioned in post #1, the air dam is in place.
    3) Any difference in mpg's by oil brand will be imperceptible.
    4) OP also mentioned in post #1 he's interested in moving up in tire size, not down.

The oil made difference in my experience at least, and tires are 80% reason why his mpg is bad. Doesnt trd sport comes with 265s?

I have stock wheels/tires setup...get about 375/395 miles to the tankful. That's about 17/17.95 miles per gallon.

Stopped measuring/gauging estimated miles and I just drive now.

Not much difference even with OTT Tune...I do occasionally give it some throttle! :D :D :D

How did you measure the difference?
Doesn't Mobile1 themselves only claim a 1% increase in fuel efficiency, under the right circumstances.
So, maybe, 2 tenths of one mpg, based on a 22mpg baseline?

I was getting 19/20 ish before, 2 oil changes, both dealership so toyota oil.

I did my own this time, and put 6.0 q of Mobil 1 exntended performance premium oil, oem filter.

I am sitting above 20 now, 22/23 even 24 on highways, in cold winter. Will see in summer if i can hit 25

On my old car also, was similar with Valvoline advanced oil + air filter change

Oil brand and filter didn't increase your mpg's by 10-15%.
    Not by a damn sight..
