For those of you who didn’t want to buy a 2024 because it’s the first year of the new gen, are you still waiting or do you feel comfortable now buying a 2025? There was the auto trans TSB and I recall some issue about a sensor on the front grille but I’m assuming both those issues have been resolved on all new trucks being built. Anything else? What about that early video of something breaking in the front diff or transfer case? Happen to anyone else or a one off?

Getting ready to buy just want to make sure there’s no known outstanding issues Toyota hasn’t resolved.

Repeat issues were fixed as they showed up in warranty claims.

An example is the early problems with the radiator shutters.

If my truck were totaled today, I would get another one just like it the next day. I would get a fleet of them if I could and spread them across the country.

I passed on the 24’s even though I wanted to trade my 2020 for maximum resale. I blame it on the late, slow rollout. Here we are a year later and the 25’s are certainly no better. Still I feel confident enough to bite the bullet. I have a deposit down on a 2025 build since last September. I’ve heard very little from the sales folks. I’m going to give them until March, that will be 6 months before I take my money and go somewhere else. I look at it like this, you would wait forever if you took everything you read on these forums to heart. If you can afford it, buy it. Life is short.

I would probably trade my 2023 Tundra for a 4th gen Tacoma if they had 21 gal fuel tank and power seat memory. Two omissions that leave me scratching my head.

So far it is proving difficult to find what I would want Xtracab 4x4. Finding what I want is the first thing that needs to happen before I can consider any other issues that would prevent me from buying.

Yup, same way for Tundra. If you like short beds you have plenty to choose from but any long beds, especially with the smaller cab, are hard to find and limited in what options you can get. It is very frustrating.

I put a deposit on a OR Longbed premium package yesterday. I was told to expect 60-90 days for one of those in one of the colors I’d accept.

What's holding me back are these things:
    1. Horrendous paint jobs. After reading about the member who had his white truck bought back (buying back a vehicle for defective paint was something I've never heard of till now. Manufacturers pretty much got the paint thing down pat 100 years ago) I paid more attention when I was at the dealership. Every blue truck I saw had unbelievable orange peeled matte paint on the right rear bedside above the wheel opening. Do they not have quality inspections? You'd think they would have figured out how to adjust those robotic spray arms by now. I supervised a large dealership paint and body shop for five years a while back and my worst painter never put out anything this bad from our cheesy paint booths.
    2. I'm having a difficult time justifying the price they want when they cheaped out from last generation and either deleted standard items or don't even have them as options on trims they should, like power seat, under hood insulation, dampened tailgate, etc. So charging much more for less and to top it off the quality reduction by moving production to Mexico and saving billions in wages to boot, just rubs me wrong. I'd like to get one but there needs to be more incentive and customer appreciation from Toyota instead of jacking around the customer and having discombobulated option packages that make you spend thousands and thousands if you just want a couple things that come standard elsewhere all to just make production convenient for them, and of course cash in better. That's kind of the exact opposite of what the Toyota philosophy has historically been.

True story! My whole paint job is orange peel. I see it on a lot of other new vehicles/brands

I think he's saying the access cab doesn't have access doors which makes it a non access access cab.

Give them a few years and they should be all sorted out. They will also be $10k more.
