    Good morning friends! Hope you all have a wonderful day :hattip:

    Took right at 2 hours to replace the thermostat housing on the VW. Took it for a test drive and all is well except for someone forgot to tighten up the intercooler hose, on both ends :anonymous:


    McMaster Carr let me down on next day shipping on the M5 triple square bit so I stopped yesterday and got a whole set from O’Riley auto. For two M5 screws.

    The housing is behind the alternator and intercooler hose.

    Thermostat was hung open, temp wouldn’t get above 135 while driving. That stinks when it’s 10° on the way to work and the heat takes forever to get it warm inside. Happy to report that on the test drive the temp gauge stayed at 190° :bananadead:

    I read about burping it, said to use a vacuum pump attached to the coolant tank :eek:

    What happened to the good ole days with a radiator cap :anonymous:
