I'm home. Wrapped everything up this morning.

 

Learned something new.

 

Found what is most likely the culprit: one of the tiny ball bearings thats tack welded on for the fuel plungers broke off and was rolling around inside. Slide moves them via those little nubs with the throttle and the solenoid pushes the rail to shut the engine down and that little piece missing wouldn’t turn the plunger which would keep that front cylinder dumping fuel which explains why it was puking black smoke and kept running shittily with the key off. Cannot find the part anywhere, rebuild kit they sent was incorrect after I had emailed with the engine model number and was told it indeed was the right kit, it didn’t include that piece anyways. Otherwise nothing broken or worn but all signs point to that being the issue. And found a broken intake manifold gasket. Praying that was the only issue and it’ll run again. Questioning everything the mechanic said/did at this point.
