I just picked up a hybrid. I like the little extra mileage and power. Hoping to tune it later for better mileage.

I got $4000 off on a 2025 hybrid off road with the premium package. They said it was invoice.

I had a hybrid Ford Fusion from 2013 to 2019. Loved it. That car was awesome. Great acceleration, range, and the features that they have added and refinements made on hybrids are amazing - especially if you have a plug in hybrid!

I absolutely believe in diversifying your fuel choices in the event of scarcity and electric / petrol hybrids do a really good job of that. They are able to delegate tasks to the electric side or petrol side that these two different power sources excel at. Plus having that much wattage on hand while camping is great. I would be in a hybrid today if I could.

The only thing you’re giving up with the Hybrid is under seat storage. Everything else is a plus! If they were available when I bought mine I probably would have gotten the Hybrid.

With this thread and other YT videos, yes, absolutely going to go for the hybrid. However, I might lose the deal I’ve got on this one due to the delay from an insurance payout. My last truck, 2022 Nissan Frontier Pro4X, was totaled by a national tire chain store when it was accidentally driven off of their alignment rack by a careless tech. The damage to the frame and body was approaching $27k, which put it in total loss territory. They’ve given me a verbal on the total loss but they’re dragging their feet on the settlement. I can’t risk buying the new truck until I have full confidence of how this will play out, or at least something in writing that it’ll be totaled.

Anyway, I went up to the dealer and drove it again yesterday and gave them an update. The truck is awesome and I hope the deal works out. If I lose this deal then I’ll find/make a deal on another one.

The hybrid Ford Fusion was one of Ford's best vehicles I had one in a similar time frame. If you turned off the economy mode it was definitely zoom-zoom and either drive mode provided well over 35 MPG fuel usage.

I was getting 45 to 48 MPG in mine. And a lot of people don't realize that the Fusion used the Toyota Synergy Hybrid Drive Module. Ford bought the rights to that system and bought the parts from Toyota to put in their cars. So as good as the Fusion was, a LARGE part of it was because of Toyota. I can only imagine how much more refined that system is now 12 years down the line. Better battery technology too.

Here's the funny thing about MPG...
The difference between 45 and 48 is only 3 miles per gallon. Or a 6.66% increase over 45MPG. But in a Tacoma getting 17MPG, boosting it 3 MPG to 20MPG is a 17.64% increase. So dropping this type of system in a truck like ours is a huge lift.

I'd like to see real world differences between hybrid and non hybrid...pickup speed/mpg etc. On paper the hybrid makes much more power, just curious how that actually works out in the real world with all the added weight.

I’ve got a 24 Tacoma with the normal engine and a 25 Land Cruiser with the hybrid… there isn’t anything wrong with the regular engine but the hybrid is awesome, especially on the highway. I think this may be a decision of what color do you like better to live with for the next bit lol

Working on a lien delete for my title…..

If the extra money is ~$2,000 it’s gonna be hookers OR blow…just sayin.

    I’d go non-hybrid.

I love the extra hp from my hybrid. I wasn’t really worried about the extra MPG with the hybrid motor bc as it sits it’s way better than my 3rd gen. Plus as long as pro/trailhunters keep selling for big $ the residual value on the hybrids will always be strong. The hybrid comes with a 10 year/ 150k warranty from factory which is nice.

I wish they made a longbed hybrid. Without a dorkel attached.

I'm a hybrid fan but for a 1mpg (highway) difference between a non-hybrid Taco and hybrid, not good (not to mention the added $ and parts). I would expect more from the hybrid. Also, the chin strap on the OR is not to my liking.

non plugin hybrids dont really help on the highway. not sure why you expect that. Hybrids are there to recapture energy during braking and send that energy back into the drivetrain when you are accelerating. That doesnt happen all that much at constant high speeds. If it was a plug in, sure, but we would need a battery 10x larger and then youd need to plug it in at home.

On my iForce Max, the on dash boost meter clearly indicates the Hybrid boost. You can observe that boost on the highway driving 70 MPH when passing on flat roads, during general acceleration -- low but present), and when going up inclines. That boost can be felt depending on how you are accelerating. Normal driving at 70 MPH on flat roads show no boost from the electric motor.

i think that people who do not have iforce maxx, or have not driven one for any amount of time do not realize how often the hybrid motor is providing more power.
