    It's a 1982 Suzuki GS750T.

I rode while out in Alamogordo, NM in 2013 when I hit the road to work for Boeing on the QF-16s.

    It's been sitting for a while...waiting! lol

Maybe the world isn't ready for push button start. Seems pretty complicated vs keyed ignition. Just sayin'

Owner’s manual says do not touch the engine switch while driving, however in an emergency, pressing it for 2 seconds will stop the engine

That's the safety feature...pressing it for 2+ seconds.

It can accidentally be touched/grazed like I did, this one time.

But the safety system yells at you and warns you.

OK, 18 months is a bit long to get any response from a seller.

Could you find a vacant parking lot and “test” this again just to be sure and you might find something else that might give a clue. I never react to one-offs, my mind in panic mode does not work well and often interprets incorrectly.

Sitting still the vehicle will shut off no matter what position the gear selector is in. Not just Drive. I do this often stopped and then try leaving the vehicle and it beeps incessantly until I find out just what I’ve done. I’ve yet to be forgetful on a hill and had the vehicle roll away from me.

Thanks. One more question if you don't mind. I started the truck put in reverse with my foot on the brake and the truck died. The engine was operating temperature. This has only happened one time, not sure if it's related to the start button malfunctioning.

Just catching up on this thread - missed all the fun parts.

I have an SR, so no Start/Stop button. But I have accidentally put it in 4H while reaching over to turn the heat up. Oopsie.

As for the one-touch shut down, perhaps take it to a Toyota dealer. I’m not sure what the warranty coverage is, but ‘safety related’ stuff can sometimes get more attention. Maybe it just needs a reflash of the ECU. (?)

Been on two wheels for over… forty five years.

Whenever you are not moving and you press the Start/Stop button the truck engine will turn off no matter what position the gear selector is in. This is no different than a manual transmission.

The only thing of concern is of you are moving above a certain (yet unknown) speed and the engine turns off.

I just tried reverse while moving at a low speed and one push is all it took to kill the engine. I increased speed and it didn’t die. Same thing for forward motion.

This is very helpful! I wish I’d taken note of my speed when I tested this in D and got a pop up saying to press and hold to shut down. Somewhere between 20-30 mph would be my guess

Thanks for the help and the experiment. I was moving forward about twenty five miles per hour when this happened.

Please repeat at a lower speed.

Added: The lower speed for safety.

Music, this is the first I’ve heard of you in this thread. Are you having problems too?

I could have phrased that comment better, I’ll edit it for clarity.
Appreciate your experimentation! I just assumed you’d get the pop up any time the vehicle sensed the tires rolling. Interesting that it shuts down when traveling below an unknown threshold. I wonder what input determines wether it shuts off or not and if that is what is faulty on OPs truck
