You have to roll with the groping.

Put your hands behind your head, lean back, and sigh or moan a little bit.

If you can make eye contact, it's a bonus.

The only issue I’d like to make sure was fixed is the potential HVAC box cracking. Haven’t heard of many of those lately though, although I could have missed some of them if they are still happening.

My 3rd gen is annoying me enough to push me in that direction of actually getting serious to swap to a 4th…

I’ll take the “non-access” “access” cab, IF they ever offer it in a TRD OR. The lack of long bed short wheelbase in an OR model might be a dealbreaker for me. You can’t retrofit MTS in an SR5.

    Here's what I'm waiting for:
    1) six more months for new problems to arise;
    2) a large backup of trucks similar to the one I want on dealer lots so discounts start to happen and dealers remove all the add-on garbage from window stickers.

I'm patient and don't mind waiting another year or two if necessary. Fortunately I have a very reliable and paid off gen2 that does everything I need to do with a truck.

Since your plan wasn't well thought through, I plan on doing just that. Stay tuned.

Less power, less torque delivered at a later rpm, and worse fuel mileage. Exactly how is it better?

And I'll take one as soon as they make it with the doors allowing proper "access" as originally designed. I got no problem with an SR, actually prefer the solid rear axle. Until then, deal breaker....:(

You know why they kill off?

Not only Dodge.. Every dealerships. I mean, Chevy, Ford, etc. Except the big trucks for towing. If the trucks are no longer having V8, then you have to get RV that allows you to drive in RV... instead of pulling RV.

Nice. I flown to Virgin Islands then back to the mainlands before the hurricane hit the islands. Good timing on my part. Wheeew.

I have drove from SC to Utah without stopping for the night which totals 28 hours of driving.

I haven't driven long trips since 2010. 2010 was my last trip.

My ‘99 was like that. Toyota called it an Xtracab. That’s a much shorter name than Non-Access Access Cab.

I think this thread has taken a 90 degree turn. I feel the OP was looking at problems that need to be fixed and it's turned into a list of features or design changes that people want. I'm looking at buying a 4th gen in the next year or 2 and would like to know if things are getting better with the transmission. I'd also like to know if the turbo has had issues since that's a common point of failure with all vehicles from all manufactures. With a little googling you can find that some of the first models had transmission issues. Toyota created a TSB for the issues so they do acknowledge a problem. I found that some of the codes of a transmission issue are

P07407F - Torque Converter Clutch Actuator Stuck Off
P079571 - Pressure Control Solenoid "C" Actuator Stuck
P08BA71 - Pressure Control Solenoid "L" Actuator Stuck
P271371 - Pressure Control Solenoid "D" Actuator Stuck
P280771 - Pressure Control Solenoid "G" Actuator Stuck
P281671 - Pressure Control Solenoid "H" Actuator Stuck

I'm 170 miles from 200K on my 2010. I've only had a few suspension parts replaced but the engine and drive train has had zero issues. I'd like to know if I can expect something like that with the 4th gen. I understand it requires time and many trucks with high mileage to predict that. Some people on this forum have put close to 100K miles a year on a Tacoma (wow!). Is there someone that is doing that on the 4th gen and what have been your experience?

Not exactly, my truck is a 2019 but I bought it in 2023. I feel fine with a 7-year trial run. I actually wanted a 2.7 but it was hard to find towards the end of 2023.

Part of the reason I would probably not own a 4th gen are the prices. They’re way too expensive for a mid-size imo.

With a matching feature set, they’re roughly the inflation adjust price of previous gens but vastly improved in nearly every way

I waited too and got tired of waiting and got the long bed Double cab OR premium in October. The back seats have hardly any room compared to my 2016 access cab and the floor isn't flat so i cant just take them out. And i wish I had got a SR5 Cold weather package instead. I don’t like much of the premium stuff now that I've had it 2000 miles. I like the seats and the larger screen because I am blind close up, and sunroof. But i have nearly everything that makes it s premium turned off. It regularly gets 17mpg the first time i got 19 was last weekend on an 800mile trip in eco mode on cruise at 75
