The only caution about that style is you MUST remember to open up the air bung before you start draining the oil.

I know because I went through the pain of cleaning my entire driveway when the oil overflowed. Only about 1qt got caught in the pan and the rest went over the side.

I just hang it up and store it with air hole open. This way I do not forget.

I have a 5 gallon plastic gas tank used just for oil. Fill it up and take it to advanced auto.

I use this same one. It has a large catch area so you never miss, holds a lot so you can do trans/diff/transfer case in addition to oil, and closes up nicely for an easy trip to the auto parts store for recycling.

A couple other things I use for oil changes that I find handy are a wide mouth funnel for filling it back up, a Fumoto oil drain valve, and a small plastic bottle with the top cut off to catch the oil from taking the filter off.
