Decided to take a ride down to Gulches Off Road park in South Carolin and have a look around. Wanted to stick to green trails only as my '23 TRD OR is stone stock. My intention was to look around and watch others, nothing crazy.

A couple 100 yards down the first trail and I'm thinking I may have made a mistake. Not because the TRD isn't capable, but those trails were tight! I later learned the park open before the 4 door Jeeps hit the market.

I made it out unscathed and impressed by what the TRDs can do. Next time I'll do a little more research to find something more open.

I’m a old guy that has owned numerous four wheel drives a word of advice keep it on the mild side it’s easy to get the fever and if you do buy an old truck just for that. IMHO

I have trashed some nice trucks and cost myself lots of money putting them back together but had a blast doing it. I had to learn the hard way now I buy trucks built just for off roading.

I'm an old guy too, been bitten by many bugs over the years. Drag racing in my late teens to street racing with some fairly high betting. Went to riding motorcycles offroad as it must be cheaper. Caught the racing bug and rode Hare Scrambles and Enduros at the Over 30A level with the spending to match. Travel, bikes, parts and injuries. Then got the track day bug in my C6 Grand Sport and then a Z06.

As the old saying goes, If it has Tits or Tires, you're gonna have trouble.

    I'll keep this one mild.

Upsized, better A/T tires will make a world of difference. Have fun...

Every OHV trail in a wooded area I have been on is “tight”. It’s part of what makes it challenging. Out in the desert they talk about taking the right line. In the woods there is often only 1 line. You take it or you order a heavy lift helicopter. Show those jeepers what a real man can do with a long base rig.

Rock Sliders that I fabricated.
Yep, same thing happened to me when I went to a privately owned park/off-road club. The guys who cut the trails all owned jeeps and I left with some pretty nasty scratches down both sides of my truck. Took me about two hours to buff them all out. Lesson learned, but them trails were a blast and really put my truck to the test!
