Im needing help trying to figure out my transmission issue. I was driving 40mph today and my truck just went to like neutral, I rolled over to the side of the road. Turned it off and back on. Pulled it out of park and none of the gears work but park! The fuild level is full. It never gave any ideal it was going out or anything. I can't help but to think it's something easy to fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Truck does have 300,000 miles on it

Did your transfer case get bumped into neutral?

Interesting, very unusual for a trans to just quit with no warning, any work done recently?
    No abnormal noises?

Have you tried it in 4wd and 4L to rule out a driveline issue?

Update checked the 4wd shifter in all positions, still won't take gear. There really no difference in the rpm when shift or difference gears. It's weird

Not sure, I'm not a transmission expert but it sure sounds like something failed internally if it's full of fluid and the linkage is connected.

I don't know, maybe @gearcruncher would have some insight if he's around.
I have seen where the splines between the transmission and transfer case would strip on some GM trucks but never heard of it on a Toyota.

My thought would be to make sure the manual valve inside the transmission moves, the spool valve inside the valve body that the shifter moves. I would have someone go through the gears with the pan off and make sure that moves. From there I would check line pressure to see if it makes any.

I agree with the above, it kind of sounds like an input shaft or pump failure. My guess be pump

I just check the piston and spool there and everything is moving freely. There was also no pieces or anything in the pan.

Would the pump be a total rebuild?

post a pic of the fluid...
does the fluid smell burnt at all?
own a floor jack where you can lift the rear tires off the ground?
see if you get any tire movement from the trans without the load of the truck...

No you do have to remove the The trans and torque converter but then it's right there. Unless anyone else has anything to check internally I'd put the pan on fill it and check the line pressure. Also check thr filter make sure it's not clogged.

Im going to get a new filter and fuild tomorrow and fill it up and try it again. I'll try the jacking the rear tires off the ground too. Where would I check for pressure at. Also do you thing I should test the 3 solenoids in the bottom while the pan is all?

Take the trans cooler lines off of the radiator and put a pan under them, start her up and see if the pump is pumping fluid. If it isnt pumping fluid you know that she needs to come out.

Changed the filter and fuild, still won't take any gear. Disconnected trans lines on the radiator and there's no fluid coming out the lines.

Pump is bad I'm guessing, needs rebuild
