Printed a couple press fit inserts, threaded them and done deal.

I had no idea the DX4C was capable of this kind of mixing.

Still fine tuning the rates and stuff. It's an entirely different toy now.:D

So, I found what's binding. Been tearing this thing down, putting it together, checking everything. I'm an expert at assembling this thing now as I've done it a dozen times now  Tore the trans apart, both axles. Everything is fine. Put it back together and discovered it's something to do with my front left wheel hex. With that tire/wheel off its fine. As soon as I put the wheel and tire on she binds. I'll dig into it later this evening. Gotta go to my friends kids birthday party

    Shoot, least you found out.

I found my wheel binding as well when my axles first came in. It only occurred when I installed the +1 hexes from LGRP, but the instant I removed it and reinstalled the Meus hexes (with o-ring) it spun freely.

So I've got extra hexes now just sitting here

Just came across an old photo I took about a decade ago on a powerplant I was working on. Wonder what scale truck uses this servo horn.

    Great seeing everyone's projects.
I finally got around to getting my 1/6 SBR back to a running state after exploding the original rear axle housing on a rock at near full speed on 8S.

I had at one point a 4ws TLT based custom crawler with a custom modded Traxxas 3 channel controller (with crystals lol). It was awesome as a dedicated slowed crawler rig, but the extra moving parts on the rear axle took a beating and servos weren't nearly what they are today so I ended up going back to just front steering on that rig.

I have been tempted to do 4ws on my current Capra axle custom build but I like the lack of complexity and [extra] robustness

Edit - how is parts availability on those old axles n teams?

Just in the last few hours I have noticed the added strain of 4ws. Links started popping off that never did before. I added washers to the outside of the balls and they are captured now. Let's see what breaks next. :D

Last pics of these. Found a strip of light foam for stuffing into AC window units and it worked well for the tires. No foams the sidewalls were folding over. Cleaned up the wiring. Ditched the large 2s battery on top in favor of a 3s 900mah that sits between the upper shock mounts. Traction boards on top for when needed.

    tossup between this body.

and the Deadbolt body that came with the SCX10.

I didn't think I would like the smaller rubber, but they really grew on me. I think bigger tires with 4ws would start breaking things. As is, it brings back some challenge and is fun to drive again. These grip like a fat kid with a bag of candy.

Breathed new life into two older neglected models. Ironically, the AX10 had the bigger tires and the UTB/SCX10 had the that same smaller size in a 1.9 wheel.

Probably a lil too much flex but fuck it... Run it and tune it.

My fancy RR10 bomber no matter how I tuned it and threw money at it didn't crawl anywhere near what my OG circa 2002 TLT build would do.

Needless to say if it works it works!

I always liked that neon green deadbolt.
I did the same to a wraith and a bomber. They both do well for trail runs and probably u4 if I was in shape to do that. Don't crawl that well on technical stuff though. Wraith is more technical and harder to control with similar power. But neither one crawls in comparison to my other trucks

Getting ready for King of the Hammers... Obviously the 1/10 is coming. Recently changed to some secret sauce (it's not) In the rear with a droop spring to hold max flex until needed and reduced flex with shock position changes, both for the positive performance from my random testing.

    20250126_190135.jpg

Also sorting some rock lights (low power draw)
    20250126_191008.jpg

And a high power front light bar. I haven't found a light controller that doesnt chip voltage on higher amp draw things so master light switch and front light bar are manual.

This thing has crazy flex. That's with the shocks extension limited internally to 100mm. There are no alternate mounts either. This was back in the late 90's/early 2000's, I think the hobby was still in the experimental stage.
The original springs made it stand tall and had little flex.

Psssssh. Experimental stage was the TXT TLT axle era cutting your own chassis plates outta aluminum flat stock plate, skid plates out of cutting board, to mount a random transmission to......

    Ax10 was a cake walk

Been sold out for weeks, but they sure look good.

Capecrawlers did a video on them recently.

As much as LGRP's stuff looks really good, I was extremely disappointed in their CS when I asked them specific questions about their own products only to get generic replies that lead me spending more than I needed to.

Something as simple as "our transmission" or other stuff is proprietary.

Capecrawlers says the same about their Spider9 axles which, that I understand, but their MR24 transmission too? Motor mount? Etc.

Also, the wheel caps on my LGRP wheels fall off.

I can't recommend LGRP to people in good faith, at least not their CS. I'll still buy their wheels and tires though.

I previously didn't buy anything from them as the prices seemed out of line with other options from RC4WD and Injora. I heard such great things about meus that I went ahead with them. I just saw the spider 9s today when cape crawler did an unboxing and review. I like the scale looks and using universals with larger output seems like a good upgrade but when I saw the prices my flabber was gasted.

    No kidding

I got Injora shocks and I'm like man, they come with tons of goodies to aid in installation in a variety of chassis

Then their other stuff like their axles, or motors, etc

They're like the Icon line-up of Harbor Freight tools; cheaper but great quality

That's why I was really rubbed the wrong way after asking for assistance on motor plates, transmissions, motors when I first reached out to LGRP (providing specifics)

Ended up spending over $110 on two transmissions and I'm still out of commission

All parts should be here this week. Axles are in Denver. :bananadance:
Has anyone else noticed the transmission for the FCX and SCX are the same mount on the skid plate? Only thing that changes is the motor mount for orientation. Is FMS and Axial in cahoots?
