    Yes they are........................

Keep in mind, businesses who need fleet vehicles buy a base 228 hp Tacoma. Average Joe's want options. And Frontiers have massive rebates now. So you can't go by list prices.

The Frontier is also overpriced, this isn't a Toyota exclusive having over priced trucks. I don't know about the S Frontiers but the SV can usually be had at a discount. The frontier also has a steel bed, rear seats and rear doors. That's more content for the money. You also have to move up to an SR5 to get the deleted cooling hardware and the full 278 hp.

I wonder if there are less expensive trim levels.

Never gonna happen of course but I love a mean street truck (SVT Lightning, Ram SRT-10, Silverado SS and the 454 variant from the early 90's, F-150 Tremor (2014 version)

I wonder if the lower trims cover some of the overhead on halo models?
Knock 5K off the SR and add it to the price of the Pro and TH, if people want them they will pay. I don't even know why manufacturers bother with halo misize trucks, it's a very small market.

So you think the new SR should be cheaper in real terms than previous gen trucks? How does that business case get made for a company?

Yes Yes I think it should be cheaper. There have been 24 Tacomas sitting on some lots for over six months, that tells me prices are to high. Those trucks aren't SR XC Rwds.

What did a Rwd utility pkg cost in 23? I recall they were close to or above 30k. Those 23s had been grossly over priced, I recall looking at trucks online and they had inferior seat bottom foam completely unacceptable for a new vehicle, on top of the overpriced MSRP.

The majority of SR XC have options that put them in the 35-36k MSRP.

Toyota north america could cut a lot of overhead and sell me a truck for less money. NFL partnerships and DEI initiatives have nothing to do with building and selling trucks. That's the BS that is costing the consumer more money.

    1. Halo trucks draw people to the dealer lots.
    2. Eventually the technology trickles down (current TRD OR is basically a 3g Pro).
    3. It's a small market (just like the GRs) but it helps keep the brand loyalty.

The same vin has been sitting for six months, or dealers actually have inventory now?

there are deals to be had. Look in the what did you pay thread and there are 6-10% under msrp deals all day

NFL partnerships get the name of the brand in front of more people at a time when they’re enjoying themselves. I know, we are all immune to advertising as above average people, but ads work

There can't be that many people who haven't heard of Toyota. I get spending money in motorsports to advertise but sporting events outside of that don't make sense. Who are you going to get the handfull of people who tailgate at games?

Some local dealers have had the same truck for months. It shows when it arrived.

It’s not about having heard of Toyota. Ads don’t work now the way they did 50 years ago. It’s about creating a feeling associated with the brand. In really simple terms, if you show an aspirational ad that feels good at a time that you already feel good (hanging out with friends and rooting for your team in a “tribal” setting), you create a positive association with that brand.

They’re not capturing someone who doesn’t know toyota exists, they’re making those people more likely to feel good about a Toyota because they *subconsciously* associate it with joy

There was two examples from two different local dealers. Those trucks were both there last week, what do you think the odds are that two different people both bought a truck that's been allocated since summer both sold over the last week end of January? One was a TRD OR LB and a Sport LB.

Most people I know watching the SB are three sheets to the wind, and so old they are set in their ways they ain't buying a Toyota.

On the topic of Toyota ads has anyone seen the Toyota trucks ad of late. I think it's Tundras and Tacomas, there's a cut away of a Pro suspension cycling and what sounds like Beavis and Butthead laughing. I thought that was funny.

Yep, companies just spend millions on ads that don’t work. You’ve cracked the code

I guess you didn't get the point. The post above mine had a base SR, trying to prove Toyotas are not expensive. But just showing the base contractor fleet trim was disingenuous which was the point I was making by showing the top trim.

At every comparable feature set, the 4g is roughly the same price as its predecessor in real dollars, but improved in many areas.

the halo trims are far better than any previous gen truck’s top trim, so of course they’re more expensive.
