And it was doing this before I plugged in the Christmas lights; I'm just hoping that my mechanic can replace the wiring harness without pulling the whole dash...

Is the wire melted a butt connector?
Hard to tell from the picture.

I couldn't tell; all I know is that the heater is working and I really want it to hold up until my mechanic can fix it!

    Use the heater sparingly.
Hopefully he can get you in soon.

    Peter fixed my heater! :D

    Well, temporarily anyway…

The system will have to be rewired, but Pete did a temporary but very effective fix…

The fuse will simply blow, instead of my truck spontaneously combusting, and Pete provided me with three spares…

My truck has recently started making this obnoxious noise at speeds above about 60 MPH; I thought it was the Christmas lights, but Amanda and I took the lights off and it persisted. I determined that the noise was being caused by the underside of the hood and thought I’d narrowed it down to the washer fluid hose; I rectified this by ziptying the hose, but it didn’t work.

I believe the noise is being caused by the metal bracing on the underside of the hood separating from the actual hood panel, and the wind is buffeting through the gap; I improvised a temporary fix in the parking lot at orientation for my new job, but it didn’t help much. I am 99% sure that the metal brace underneath the hood is vibrating…

Originally a thread called Hood vibrates above 60 MPH…

Everybody knows about the “hood flutter”. My truck has been doing this for years, but only this past December did it start vibrating; I decorate my truck with Christmas lights every year, and it’s been really cold where I live so I didn’t get all of the lights in one day. I thought that a broken strand of lights may have hitting sheetmetal and causing the vibrations, but it continued after I took every single strand off. It was only at this point that I realized the noise was coming from under the hood; I thought at first that the windshield washer hose was causing the noise, as it had come loose, but ziptying the hose did nothing.

The vibrations are worst when I am going 50-60 MPH or more, they tend to be more pronounced depending which way the wind is blowing that day.

The metal bracing underneath the hood seems to be separating from the main piece of sheetmetal, and what I’m hearing seems to be just metal vibrating against metal.

Is there any easy remedy for this? At this point, I’m willing to just use epoxy or even duct tape!

Try adjusting the bumpers, or replace them if they are worn out

Strange. Try stuffing a thin piece of foam where you think the separation is, like you'd use on the window with an air conditioner perhaps.
