That’d be park assist and that explains why you don’t hear it when in Drive.
To verify, next time you are backing out of your garage, turn off BSM with the button below your climate controls but leave park assist engaged.
Park assist and rear cross traffic alert beep at you. BSM is just the light in the mirrors.

I get that, but what I don't get is why they have a front radar that only operates over 7mph. Seems to me that parking assist should also incorporate the front since when parallel parking, you also risk bumping the vehicle in front. Toyota only did it halfway in my opinion.

    Oh I see. I misunderstood.
Yeah the 3rd gen is a decade or two behind the times in terms of tech features, which is kind of why all of the “nO nAnNy FeAtUrEs FoR mE!!” belly aching is so funny to me personally.

How did you turn off the seat belt sounds?

someone told me to pull my gage cluster out of the dash and take off the chime unit, you'll never hear a beer or sound again. But you will also never be able to put it back.

The only way I can get my phone charger pad to work is if i remove my phone case, is there a way to get it to charge my phone with the case on or do i need a special case?

you could remove your gage cluster and on the back side is a round buzzer module, that you can just break off and the sounds will be gone forever

You can download a pirated version of techstream on a laptop and buy a usb>obd cable. Tactix I believe is a good brand. Don’t know what the cables cost, just that people often have bad experiences with the cheapo ones.
Another option is buying a Carista obd>bluetooth unit. It is a subscription based phone app that accesses the same information. It comes with a free trial that you can cancel after you’ve made the changes you want. $40
It really depends on your phone and wether or not the camera bump prevents it from laying flat. Your phone case should be wireless charging compatible, but honestly you aren’t missing much. Qi pads are slow and out dated. I use a 3d printed plate and wireless charging puck and it works 100 times better
