I get the feeling that the minivan ECU you were using probably did some sort of duty cycle control e fan to begin with. Have you explored whether that output is usable for you?

it did, I kinda have, I'm pretty confused why no-one in the MR2 world uses the ECU to drive their fans.

Yeah, that's a concern for sure. Have a line on some forged rods with 3/8" ARP hardware though if that ends up being a failure mode. I think mine will be okay but the race truck might need em haha

Getting started on the flatbed project, I forgot to take a picture yesterday of the wooden frame plan we knocked together, but I'll do that as more of the plan comes together. Going to buy steel today so I can at least get the bed frame portion knocked out and welded on. Also have some frame boxing plates to install while this is all apart.

I aim to entertain. You don't troll my other thread but I should post it in here too. I'm getting rid of the stock gas tank, 42 gallon suburban tank in my future.

If so, what side of the axle?
    That's a big tank......

It's gotta go behind, there's no room for it ahead of the axle, but the 42g tank is confirmed to fit in the space. Old gas tank location I have some other plans for

    I just looked it up.
It's about as wide as it is long.

    Will it hang down much?
You know, for ground clearance reasons?

Hangs about the same amount as the spare tire would in the same location. I'm still kind of waffling between using the 42 gallon version or the 30 gallon I'm undecided. The 30 gallon saves two and a half inches. But I've got room to move this big tank up another 4 in because of the new bed design too

42 gallons would be awesome for those long drives or just not having to fill up more than once during the winter

    You can put 30 gallons in a 42. But you can't put 42 in a 30. ;)

Man I did that the other day, walked away from the BMW for like a half second to go get a window squeegee and the thing didn't shut off and gas ran down the fender :bananadead:

I believe @BossFoss has said if he did it again he'd do the 30 just because the 42 hung down so low. I think its lower than the spare a bit.

Also weight. That's a lot more weight in fluids.

It's 262# when entirely full, he kept the stock tank though, which I see no point in having at all if you've got 42 gal

Sure. I just mean he was more concerned with how low in hung down. 30 gal is still 280-500miles range pending your mpgs haha Plus you could still use a jerry or two for just in case.

Then again with this whole build out, your wheeling style in general could change given the weight, potential height/width of it too.
