Out of round new drums?

Recently, I installed new power stop drums and shoes on my Tacoma and drove it and noticed a vibration when breaking so I figured it is the drums so ,I returned those and got new ones same issue with the new centric drums ,if I push the parking brake buy itself it vibrates too isolating it to the rear brakes. What is going on?

 

Did you verify there is no rust or debris on the hubs preventing the drums from seating correctly?

 

It did not do this before?

I've had drums out of round from aftermarket for sure.

Is it from Amazon? Some places dont ship them correctly and you'll end up with these results.

 

Yes I wire brushed I just left that paper stuff

I have bought new drums over the counter from a parts store that were mildly out of round. Pissed me off.

No such thing as ceramic drums.

Yes for years crap metal chinesium brake drums are out of round out of the box brand new. Most fancy label or auto parts store are just relabel and fresh off the boat. I always have new drums turned (usually not much needed) if you want to do a thourough job.

 

I'm old. I remember when we changed brakes and they sold oversize shoes. The machine shop in the store matched them to your drums. Worked great.

 

Brand is centric I think I’ll get the power stop drums turned

 

I did hear tell that Centric was bought by another Co. & quality has gone downhill after that. No surprise.

 

Usually I have had good luck with power stop you think I should turn them or return both sets and get oem.

 

possible you bent an axle?
Get a mic to check it

 

I checked them when I did my wheel bearings not that long ago tire wear is normal.

 

When the truck is up on jackstands I'd start the truck and roll the wheels just to make sure the axle is straight, it's a simple check that takes seconds and if it's slightly bent will produce the same symptoms, it's unlikely but you'll spend a a long time "trying" to resolve it with the brakes.

Worth swapping the tires from the front wheels to the rear to eliminate that possibly? Although you usually feel it all the time and not just braking is tire or wheel.
