It's always harsh when that happens. I've known 3 people who went down that path. Sorry for the loss

Guy came by yesterday I've known forever and ask me to fix something for one of his tractors, didn't take long so I stopped by his house to drop it off yesterday. Told him I bought a bigger saw this winter and he said I got a big saw I can't crank since having my stroke, you want it? I said how much, he said for you, you can have it. He also had a skip chain for it. This one was produced from 1967-1986 and runs like a champ. This is the same guy who gave me the Homelite Super XL last year, that I haven't tried to crank but he said runs.

Still has the Joe's Tractor Sales decal from where it was sold, says Route #6, not sure what year they changed from route #'s to address numbers.

Sorry sir. Sorry for the family who have the aftermath thrust one them, and the friend who felt there wasn't a solution.

I used to think that someone who did that was thinking only selfishly not realizing the cost to everyone else, and it made me angry. But the more I have thought about it, while I still think it's selfish thinking, I have found more compassion realizing that many of those people are just trapped/isolated in pain and can't even see outside their own heads. The state of mind you have to be in could be described as blinding to all other things. Almost like an actual handicap. And also, selfishness is native to all. Out of balance sure, but not foreign.

Of course I have no knowledge of the actual circumstances and events, so I can be 100% wrong. I don't know, it may not even be helpful, so perhaps I should just stop.

    It's helped me, that's all I'm saying.

    It’s easy to judge until
You put yourself in their shoes. I been going through some serious anger issues the past decade or so. It even made me step down from management it affected me so much. I’m much more happy pulling levers now but it wasn’t something lightly done. Everyone was always saying “why’s he such an asshole?” Well. When your in my shoes you can tell me because I can’t control my short fuse anymore than you can control your bowel movements sometimes. I’m would never judge someone who took their own life. They were going through some serious anxiety and depression on a level some of us cannot fathom

Just got off the phone with a dear friend of mine, he called me about our friend who committed suicide (he lived not far from him) then opened up about stuff he's going through with his kids, etc. You never know what anyone is going through and men don't want to talk about it. It's a fact we must face.

We had a class many years ago in the F.D. on suicide and I remember the instructor saying "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem".

In the grand scheme of things, it is absolutely true. We never know what someone is dealing with though. Can't help someone with something if we don't know what to help them with.

    "...men don't want to talk..."

So true, especially older men - the "silent generation" and the children of them.

The British famously call it "keeping a stiff upper lip".

Some of us will work on something alone for 2 hours rather than ask for 2 minutes help. :anonymous:

    Everything
Not going to lie! I struggle with my mental health.
I mentally hit rock bottom in October of 2023. Everything fell apart around me. My wife was deep in depression following our oldest son’s accident and having a miscarriage. I had left my Job two months prior and pulled every dollar I hand into scaling my own business and it failed. I could not hold back the tears. The feeling of failure. The feeling of not being able to keep it together and support my family.

I still remember that first call I made to get myself help. Got control of the anxiety and depression with the help of medication. Started seeing a therapist twice a week.

I found a few great buddy’s that check in often and also pray with me.

I still have my rough days. But I always remember to push through. Sometime even just going for a walk to clear my mind helps a lot.

Thank for for sharing this. Just when you think someone has it all together, you realize they struggle just the same as we all do. Myself included :fistbump:
