Rim fitting clarification

Can 16” rims fit on 2nd gen Tacoma with a 6” suspension lift without spacers? My 17” stocks won’t fit because it’ll rub the steering knuckle so I need 2” spacers to clear.
I wanna run 16” rims but without using spacers, is it possible? Right now I have 18x10 rims on

 

Wheel diameter alone does not guarantee fitment. You would need to understand also how offset/backspacing works. Did you contact the company that your lift came from and see what guidelines they give for wheel fitment?

If you want a short answer here it is...Will a 16" wheel fit for your application? Maybe, but it needs to have the correct offset and that information isn't provided to us here.

 

This question is completely dependent on your backspacing and tire size/width.

 

If you have 17" stocks then you won't be able to fit 16s because you more than likely have larger brakes.

For example trd sport comes OEM with larger brakes than the TRD off-road. Sport comes with 17s and off-road comes with 16s

 

What @wi_taco said. Wheel size matters very little, Offset and Backspacing are what makes it fit or not to clear the brake caliper and UCAs

 

Not to hijack the thread, but this is incorrect, and I don't want anyone to pick up bad info on accident - 2nd Gen Sports and Off-Roads have the same brakes from the factory. 16s will fit a TRD Sport with factory brakes just fine. Some aftermarket and modded brake setups require a 17" or larger rim.

 

What kit is it? Most of the manufacturers have the minimum wheel required right on the website.

Sorry but no. Maybe your sport had a big brake upgrade prior to you purchasing it.
Countless examples of sports with 16” rims with no issues. My sport is running 16” oem rims with oem rotors and calipers.

Looks like BDS requires a 18x9 or 20x9 min 4.5” backspace.
