I’ve been checked a dozen times but only twice when hunting. The other times was when I was either fishing or just boating

    Twice for me.
A friend and I were driving to another block in the watershed public ground. Not another vehicle in sight.
Pulled into a dead end access road and 3 of their trucks came out of nowhere. Like they fell out of the sky.
Five COs total. Checked us and we were BSing for a bit.
Seems like they were looking for someone else. :notsure:

    I’ve been checked:
    Once fishing a pier
Once after loading my boat back on the trailer
Once while dove hunting with a bunch of buddies
Once by some dude in the archery thread trying to beat a dead horse.

Game warden doesnt come out at night:rofl::rofl::anonymous::wink:

Just luck of the draw i guess. Never been where the game warden is when ive been hunting. Fishing spots are usually a guarantee to write a ticket easy targets for game wardens.

One of my two times I had one check me while hunting.. he was out there doing a welfare check on my best friend. We were in Montana and he showed up a few days before I did. Was an hour from town in the middle of nowhere in his Jetta when a massive snow storm hit. Got stuck in his tent for two days.

some hunter called it in cause he hadn’t moved in several days lol. Game warden showed up to check on him the same day I had shot a muley

I shot a doe one morning....
Watched her fall about 60 yards away so I picked up the arrow (it went thru and stuck in the ground) went to my truck and sat on the tailgate waiting for my buddy to finish hunting.
Been sitting there a few minutes and a GW rolls up. My bow is on the tailgate and he notices my bloody arrow in the quiver and says "looks like you had some luck". I says, "yeah, I shot a doe". He asked if I had tagged her yet, I says " no, just watched her fall, grabbed my arrow and came back to the truck". He says, "ya know, yer supposed to tag em as soon as you retrieve them". I says, "I know, but I aint retrieved her yet". And he says, "so yer telling me you watched that deer drop and aint bothered to walk up to her yet?" "I have a hard time believing that". So I sez, "believe whatever you want but I've shot alot of does and they all purdy much look the same when you walk up to em".
    So the feller left.

Was aoudad hunting an 80K acre ranch on the Rio Grande. Had a game warden leave his card on our camper door. Never saw him. Was checked by the BP on our way out though to make sure we had no extra passengers.

I've never been checked by a game warden. We were running dogs in eastern N.C. once and about 40 of us roll up to where we were going and there were 3 warden cars parked there.

Couple minutes later 2 cars pull in and numerous wardens get out, they said hey to us and left. Never checked any of us.

They had been after duck hunters that morning, I guess they didn't want to waste their time with us as many as it was. 99.9% of us were probably legal anyway.

Fishing offshore out of La Push a guy could be visited by tribal law enforcement, the Coast Guard, a game warden, and a fish checker on the same trip!

I had a run in with a GW when I was 17-18, my sister shot a doe and it wasn't doe season but we had a permit for the club under "biological management" so we could shoot 3 does per day, he followed us back to camp to make sure we were actually members (well technically we were children of a member I suppose). Then once in smith lake while fishing with my cousin, and other than my cousin (who is 20+ years older than me) joking about him missing the boat that just left with 10 fish in the slot and a cooler full of bud, that interaction went smoothly lol (I was probably 12 at the time so I have messed up chronological order a bit here) and then once in a Pier one showed up right as I landed a flounder, he measured it, and it was legal, and then he filleted it for me. Seems like they were taking skulls back for study for something. One also ran over my sister's dog once and had to put it down with his side arm, but I wasn't home for that one.
