I'm that guy who loves my single cab 15 yr old truck that came with power nothing. Always been a minimalist with vehicles as far as fancy stuff, perhaps because I've bought so many older vehicles (and in most cases didn't know if they'd run never mind all the gizmos operate).

I don't dislike tech as a whole but I think the radio running things like that is overkill too.

Sometimes yes. I try to do my own stuff when I can but sometimes it's just not possible, either it's beyond me or in the colder months I can't get my truck under the garage door. Changing the spark plugs in mine took longer than the older 4 banger cars I've owned yes but it has to be done far less often so it still did work out, for instance.

I've long said this to people about tech stuff like power/mileage. My 1984 Camaro with the V8 and 4 barrel carb I had at 18 yrs old was 170HP off the assembly line..mine had more though heehee. My 2010 Tacoma with the 2.7 4 banger and fuel injection is 160 something HP. Now there's a lot of other variables like the body of a sports car vs truck aerodynamics, weight, gearing, blah blah..but it's telling that in 25 yrs time you can get the same basic HP in half the engine.

Vacuum diaphragm, it advanced the spark curve. This dizzy isn't showing the advance weights that went on top that you could spend hours on trying to tune the initial advance by changing the springs or even the weights themselves. All of the good speed shops had a "dyno" machine for tuning the distributor. Nowadays, the 'puter takes care of all of that business.

I'm curious about Bronze Tacos statement, I'm hoping that he gets a truck that fulfills his needs whether it's a Toyota or Nissan.

Holy crap! 5 months later and this still hasn't been resolved? I admit I haven't checked this thread in a while, so probably missed some very salient points, lol.

Well ....... this has been an interesting ride to say the least but it has finally come to an end. I decided I would not buy a 2024 Tacoma and wait for a 2025 but the needle in the haystack I was looking for was seeming to be something that might not happen so quickly and I'm finished grubbing rides or being house locked. Choice was a used Tacoma or new Nissan Frontier. I chose the Nissan Frontier SV King Cab 4x4. The MSRP $39370 and discounted to $31000 and $34,200 out the door. The ride is surprisingly smooth for leafs and a 6' bed. More than enough power out of that V6. Has all the safety features but very basic interior and dash and OK with all that. The thing most people commented about was the heavy hydraulic steering, the outdated steering wheel and seating. I actually like the steering, the wheel is just not as beefy and fancy like the Tacoma, kind of outdated, and the seating reminds me of the Gen 3 Tacoma. I picked it up in Vegas and drove it up to Utah 138 miles. Really a great ride and I'm quite happy with my decision. I really hate buying used so this will be it and we will see what Toyota comes up with next.

I bought the truck at AutoNation Nissan in Las Vegas and Marisol was my sales person. The price was what it was as advertised and full transparency with the extras. They did not even bother me about any $699 tracking device bullshit or try to sneak in any maintenance packages. They made their sales pitch for the upsell and were not pushy at all. They charged me for the tinted windows and wheel locks they put on the truck and that's it and I was aware of that from the ad. It was really a pleasant and positive experience and not one bit of fuckery. Most of the dealership people I have dealt with in my life are unscrupulous pieces of shit in my eyes. Not all... but most. No integrity at all. I'm happy to go out on a high note with this purchase.

I appreciate everyone that has thrown their 2 cents in and also the ones that sat back and watched. nf2.jpg nf3.jpg nf4.jpg

I don't know why people give hydraulic steering a bum rap. Hydraulic steering can be adjusted to be as heavy or light as the manufacturer wants. All a matter of boost and metering. I learned to drive on my grandmother's 1969 Chrysler Imperial barge. You could turn the steering wheel with a feather. For some unknown reason Nissan CHOSE to make it unduly heavy.

I read a post where a guy said the steering was so heavy after 2 weeks he got rid of the truck. Like I stated before.. I like it. Just feels has a solid feel to it with no play in it compared to other trucks. It's truly just a different feel that one would have to get used to. I learned to drive in a 1967 Plymouth Fury and had several cars back then with no power steering. The new Nissan is not even close to that. I do think it gets a bum rap.

Nothing wrong with it at all. I'm looking forward to doing a couple minor mods down the line and enjoying the shit out of it.
