    I think you did great.

For anyone who still wants a “new” and updated Gen3 Tacoma, the Frontier is your truck. It’s got a V6 that out-pulls the old Taco’s revvy 3.5, more gears that don’t get confused, disc brakes, boxed frame, better seating position, updated infotainment….Retains hydraulic steering, and pretty reliable. And with Nissan discounts, you get 2019 Tacoma prices.

Not my vibe personally, but I certainly respect those who buy one.

    Congrats!

I had 4 of 'em. They're the same bones with a new drivetrain and body.

Big flat comfy seats. I like the slightly heavier steering, and never noticed it until I saw Taco folks complaining about it (I thought the previous gen Taco was too light).

A set of Bilstein 5100's will make the ride even better. Look into doing valve maintenance with oil changes since it's a direct injection only engine. Seafoam Spray is easy.

I have at least 5 to 6 customers who have made the switch from Tacoma or Tundras to the Nissan. Two or three have said price, Toyotas are no longer worth it in there minds and they really like there new Frontiers.

My sentiments exactly. The pros absolutely outweigh the cons for my decision and needs.

I think all these trucks are overpriced and not worth...... but we pay it anyway if we really want it. The price of this truck was a major factor as well as what it offered me. Dealership experience absolutely played a part in my decision also. I'm sure I will love this truck!

Just want to say thanks for keeping up with the thread and seeing it through til the end! We may have taken it off the rails more than once or twice or seventy-four times, but you saw the story through to the end. Big props to you and congrats on the new truck. Sorry everything happened the way it did, but sounds like the universe had other plans for you. Hope it treats you well, and here is to continued good health for you and your wife

Since I have saved quite a bit of money I'm going to do a lift and level and upgrade to Bilsteins. Thanks for the heads up on Seafoam Spray. Looks easy enough to put into the maintenance schedule. 1 small thing I noticed, and like, was how heavy and solid the front and rear doors are. Very pleased so far and am optimistic. I appreciate your input.

It was a very "diverse" thread ... I had to see it through to the end. I honestly appreciated all the input. It helped me look at things from other directions and talked me off the ledge a few times. 2024 unfortunately threw myself and my family some pretty life changing curve balls that I would not wish on anyone and this process was just something I didn't need at the time... like a kick you while you are down thing. The truck thing is now behind me and looking forward to healthy and happy 2025. I appreciate you.

Exactly and one reason they're so expensive is because some people will pay anything that they can afford just because they want it. And that inflates prices. At this point in life I no longer do that. My younger days I'd buy something overpriced. I have more self control now. I can afford the Tacoma Pro but I won't buy one. First I don't need or want 4WD so that relegates me to lower trims. The Sport I drove was way to choppy. The SR has weaker cooling which doesn't work where I live plus 50 less HP. So that pigeonholes me into an SR5. Without some features I feel it should have, I consider it not worth what they're charging right now unless they want to start upgrading it or giving rebates. There's really none here. Some people will pay $20 for a Big Mac if they charged that much. I like Big Macs and can afford $20, but I just won't pay that. That's just dumb. From what I've seen the Colorado is the best bang for the buck but it's a Chevy so you'll have to change your mailing address to the service department. And the Nissan with $8k discounts like you got is a great value if you don't need an over tech'd vehicle. So I think you made a good choice. I've said before I hate heavy steering but I may have to drive one just to check it out. From multiple descriptions I've read, I'm thinking it's not so much a heavy feel throughout the cycle but rather it's set for a strong return to center. That's the one thing I don't like about some electric steering. On a sharp turn at low speed it will keep going in circles until you manually bring the wheel back to center.

I feel the same way and have been guilty of being that guy because I could. I have bought and sold 14 new trucks and SUV's and 5 motorcycles in the last 20 years and each time I take the trade in hit and fork over the dough for the next overpriced machine I want to drive. I started to say "when does it stop?" and decided to spend less on a truck than in the past and break that cycle and thats what I did with my 4Runner and then Tacoma. This situation really made me rethink things and with a crazy economy and being a pensioner it was a no brainer. I'm also that guy that won't pay $20 bucks for a Big Mac but will grind my own beef and make a badass burger for a few bucks and be happier than I would if I ate Mickey D's. I'm with you 100%.

I'm really ok with the under tech'd Frontier. It has all the safety stuff (blind spot monitor and that stuff that can be disabled with the touch of a button rather than scrolling through a menu). I think these giant screens are a joke but that's just me. The things missing that you pay big $ for in these upgrade packages maybe have 1 feature I really need and the rest worthless to me. I can plug my phone in and use my garage door opener on the sun visor. All cheap fixes when they need to be fixed rather than paying $1000's for that shit. $70 for a couple USB cords?? I'm with you!!

LOL. Bingo. There must be a timed delay "Common Sense" switch that goes off at a certain age.
