I got clipped in the driver side tail light trying to exit the highway back in December. Thanks State Farm for taking quick responsibility and cutting me a check for your inattentive policy holder! (sarcasm).
Any way, I ordered a nightshade version of the tail light as a replacement from a local dealership. The tail light looks to have a crack in it. The parts guy at the dealership says it is a seam that is on other night shade tail lights that they have. What do y’all think? Is that “seam” supposed to be there or not?

The right side is the OEM smoked version that was standard on the OR. Not the same tail light assembly, but it does not have that seam and that’s why I’m asking.

Thanks 56 and Aaron for confirming that the seam is not a defect. I guess I’ll have to get over it or go back to the original smoked version.

just replace the other OEM housing with a new one as well. that’ll satisfy your concern.

At the moment, no. I have a perfectly good smoked one on the right and a broken smoked one, that is all taped up, on the left. If I decide to go with the nightshade version on the left, I'll replace the right one as well. I really don't like the way red plays off the cav blue. I've already changed the red Off Road 4X4 decal on the bed to a black/white/grey combo decal. Didn't care for any of the non-OEM options for tail lights, so I thought the clear lens OEM might look better. The red portion wouldn't be right up against the truck. I know I'm a little insane! I didn't realize there was a seam in the clear part that makes it look like it's got a crack to me. And now I have to decide which one is going to bother me more, the smoked red version or the seam. But, to answer your question, if I decide to go with the nightshade version, yes I will be rocking different styles for a couple of days.
