Hey guys, so i have a 22’ tacoma sport. Recently no matter what gear ranging from 30mph up to 70mph when putting moderate pressure on the gas pedal you can hear almost like an electrical whine, kinda like an alternator issue. Truck has 40k miles in it. The tone and volume of this high pitch whine change to the amount of pressure i put in the gas pedal. Any fix or idea what this could be. I know its not the control arm “whistle” or anything to do with wind as once i let off the gas pedal it instantly goes away.

Have you done any electrical mods like LED bulbs, lights, stereo, etc? Sounds like alternator whine although that would not start at 30 mph, it would start more with rpm.

    Are you the original owner?
Throttle body spacers make a high pitch whistle.
    If one was previously installed.

I recently started getting this high pitched whine too (different from the rear differential howl or the AC compressor whistle, both of which I also have). It seems to come from my right dash speaker, which is not stock but an upgraded DS18 tweeter. I wonder if it's bad shielding or a loose connection or ground somewhere?

I've had this also since I bought my truck brand new. I like to play pretend that I have a teeny tiny turbo winding up... Makes me feel cool. Jk

Definitely not normal, old civics were notorious for this but it would come from the speakers, so if you raised the volume it would get louder. My truck never used to make this noise

Mine has done this since I bought it with 26k miles bone stock, and I'm almost at 80k now. I thought it was a smaller speed range though. Something like 40-60mph, and only a certain pedal position. I can press it harder/lighter without fully pulling off the gas and it will stop. Never had any idea what it was.

Yes, I had them check it out. Couldn't find anything wrong. I know there are a few other threads about this same mysterious whine.

It may have caused my issue or it may be a symptom. I could also have a bad ground somewhere. Haven't had time to troubleshoot it.

I had a very similar issue in an old car of mine, when I would connect my phone to a USB charger plugged into the 9v cigarette lighter and then connect my phone to the aux in my car stereo, I would get the same alternator whine through my speakers.

I have this as well 22' trd off road, got some ditch lights and put a 3 inch lift but its wierd for sure. It might be electrical seems like a slight power loss to me.
