This was the route that I went. I really liked the idea of the N2 Designs, especially supporting a company in a time of need, but its too cold to wait in Boston.

N2 said they were running weeks of lead time but I ordered anyway. My order was out the door in a couple business days and has arrived. I had a dialogue with customer support and owe them a kudos/well done and TYVM email. Installation is tough here in MA working under the snow clouds and quite cold temps.
Had an Accord remote installed of a Fortin flashed unit and cost a LOT of money from a very reputable service guy I have used for many years to have installed but it's my for my daughters car so it's worth it

I did my install at lunch today. It wasn't that bad. About 25 minutes start to finish. But yeah it was cold - my hand was numb at the end of that.

Wanna do mine? Semi-serious. The Accord install job was way too expensive

You might have already seen/mentioned them, but there are some great DIY videos on the install. Just take your time and you can do it.

The Start X instructions are pretty straight forward and from what I can tell, it's the same install as the N2D. My one recommendation - the removal of the kick panel (0:30 to 0:35 in the following) is more IN than back, meaning you want to tug it across the truck to unsnap the two snaps. Once that's done, then you pull it back to get it to come off the screw.

Compustar DC3 over and over and over again. It allows for takeover with our 3rd Gen push to start trucks and sooo worth the factory plug and play that follow Toyota's convenience settings of shutting down when the door opens. If you don't care about it shutting down when you do that and then just restarting it be my guest but I dont care to put that extra wear and tear on my truck.

With the Compustar you just unlock the truck, open the door, sit down, hold the break for 1 Mississippi, and bam the Compustar steps away and lets the Toyota key take back over with out ever shutting down. If you go with any of the COmpustar bundles that have the silver accent key you also get 2 way feed back. That means when you send any lock, unlock, or RStart command from the aftermarket key fob and you can't see the vehicle lights flash or hear it Rstart... the key fob will return light and audio on it if the command was received or not.

OP has an H key though, not push start. N2’s remote start works similr as your description with an H key which is a bonus. Unlock, put key in ignition and turn it to on. Truck stays running unless you touch the brake before inserting and turning the key.

You are absolutely correct I failed to properly read OP’s first message properly… those factory plug and play would work perfectly in their situation. I would only recommend going with the Compustar if you are looking for anything like the 2 way confirmation on the fobs or further distance communication. Besides all that @usmc2msu is right on the button with that option!

Ill second @Danoofucius suggestion, discovered Compustar DC3 about 7-8 years ago and personally it'll take a lot of convincing to go with different module, self-installed with T Harness on 4 vehicles (got also the data cable for programming in case new firmware comes), Taco was last and yes takeover work flawlessly with PTS (gotta install diode, no biggie) with H key would be a bit more splicing, search your area for reputable shop if its too much for you to handle. Good luck!

Does it turn your truck off when you open the door?

It turns off when you press the brake.

Hey so my kit included a hood switch with a label “professional installer” and no instructions. How would one wire that in?

Start X, but from what I can tell they are basically the same.

N2’s customer service is awesome and they would help you out for sure. I’d give that Start X company a try to see if try will do the same.
