3rd gen A.R.E. hardtop installed

Our parts truck at work didn't need the hardtop and I'm the only guy with an access cab and 6ft bed! I removed the tool shelves inside. I am so happy! I've been looking at the soft topper for months. Just wanted to share.

That’s a tall one, real clean too

 

It's 26". It included a roof rack but I took it off. Added about 6" and I don't think I would use it.

 

Well I was going to say it’s too bad you didn’t have the rack, because I think it makes it look better! But yeah at 26” already I get it. So useful tho, mount awnings, easily carry long things, kayak, 12’ boards, whatever. I shoved 400 watts of solar in to mine, but I get that’s not for everyone

 

Your's looks so awesome! I kept the rack. I'll reinstall it if I need it. It weighs like 20lbs. It's aluminum, it can sit outside! I was thinking an awning and maybe some lights. Solar panels would be sick!

Well, I guess you’re putting the rack back on.

 

You should be able to rekey the locks to your ignition key too if you haven’t already
I love having only a single key, and pretty secure storage

I have the fob with the key. Not a push button.

 

Is yours a 26 in. As well? Been seriously looking at every 3gen I can find with one of these. The height is the concern for me. Would more pics be possible. What awnings do you have? Thanks

Mine is a 23”. Unsure if heights are exactly the same between 2nd and 3rd gens; I believe the bedsides are higher on 3rd gens so it would push the height above cab about 1” higher

I have a 270 awning on the passenger side and a shower awning on the driver side
